building yet another wind data particle layer for mapbox in webgl and while cranking the parameters up to this point probably isn't very useful, it looks preetty cool

ORGANISM

THJS IS INCREDIBLY USEFUL HOW DO I DO EXACTLY THIS

looks really cool

looks great tho

What is the blue stuff getting pushed around? Moisture?

it's just to show the wind, so they don't represent anything. they spawn uniformly over the globe and follow the wind data.

what is going on in Nevada

Amazing, you got one with a longer time window?

this is the last month

You really feel it breath! Frikkin wild you are. A legend

It looks nice! Looks like you're having fun.

Those diurnal cycling cells are wild

You pre upload all the uv textures into gpu mem? the time transitions looks too fast.

yeah, for each visible tile, all the temporal slices are in vram, although playback can start before they've finished loading.

apparently the first challenge in visualizing wind is convincing people it isn't something else

This is some badass work. 🫡

Very cool

Siiick

Man this is so psychedelic lol

This is freakishly amazing!!!

This is porn

nice work, it's hard to not simply reproduce windy or nullschool

But can I predict wind mw for the day for each lmp

Wow, I love this! BTW, I've built a time slider suitable for time-series data that you might like. Just wanted to let you know:

This is beautiful

is that live data or data that comes from space?

its data that comes from our weather prediction model. but each data frame in this comes from the run closest to the actual time depicted, so they're pretty close to real ground truth

tree.js ?

Is it opensource?

Why doesn’t all that wind disperse into the infinite near-perfect vacuum?

Is this available on a website?

I think its very useful educationally
