Why did so many languages copy async/await from C#? Anders Hejlsberg(Anders Hejlsberg) - creator of TypeScript, C# & Turbo Pascal - on what they got right with the design: #1 - async/await was designed to solve a common problem in the event-loop model: "A lot of languages are built around cooperative multitasking in the sense that they have an event loop that sits and dispatches events. Then you handle the event and then you yield back to the event handler loop. And it all runs in a single thread cooperatively. The problem with that is if you then want to do some long running work: how do I stop in the middle of this piece of long running work and yield back to the event loop cooperatively? And then when my result is ready, I can come back and continue executing here." #2 - state machines are the solution, but hard to build: "Well, in order to do that in an inverted architecture like that, you have to build a state machine. State machines are notoriously hard for people to implement because you've got to move all of your state off of the stack into objects. And then you have this big case statement that envelopes your entire logic. It's a nightmare to figure out. But, the transformation from serially executing code into a state machine, its continuation-passing-style translation is actually one that you can do in a machine-based fashion." #3 - compilers are good at writing state machines: "You can have the compiler write the state machine if you introduce syntax that allows you to indicate where you want to yield. And that's what await is. Await is basically saying, I want to yield here, and I want to yield this promise, and then when the promise completes, I want you to come back here and continue executing. Then the compiler writes a state machine around it and it actually turns it into this big switch statement and moves all of the state that survives across the await into something that's heap allocated. And so that was sort of the idea that we have this new style of programming where we're using promises or the equivalent of promises and the ability to yield and then we have callbacks. But trying to write your program in that style, that's also what JavaScript suffered from a lot. It's like all this callback style stuff. With Async and Await, you get the illusion that you're just writing normal sequential code and then the compiler does the painful transformation for you. That turns out to be really useful."

The Mag 7 has had its run but the other 493 are doing well this year. Some real estate and some gold. Then sit tight and bet the long term of the United States. This country is not going anywhere and here's why I believe that so deeply. Definitionally, everyone who came to this country was a risk taker. The people who got on a boat or a plane from somewhere else and said, I'm going to swing for the fences in America. When you swing for the fences you strike out sometimes and this is a culture that accepts getting your ass kicked and getting back up. That makes it neurally flexible and neurally plastic. BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE 2020 ELECTION THEFT We watched the 2020 election live on TV. President Trump was miles ahead in the six swing states. We all went to bed assuming he had won easily. But then the swing states ALL 'stopped counting' on election night (unprecedented) citing fake water leaks etc. This was the first time in history that any state needed to 'stop counting' on election night. And six of them did this in 2020, simultaneously. Then they secretly resumed counting after the observers had gone home. We have videos of vans offloading boxes at the counting centers, and we have videos of vote counters pulling boxes from under desks and running ballots through the machines multiple times in the middle of the night. The data shows massive jumps in the Biden vote in all six swing states at the same time in the middle of the night, around 3AM, when they had supposedly 'stopped counting'. Then they spent the next three weeks gradually "finding" more and more ballots for Joe. As soon as Joe was slightly ahead in each swing state, the state stopped counting for real and declared him the winner. Then they fought desperately in courts to prevent audits. They allowed lots of 'recounts' to happen, where they just counted the fake ballots again, and then they misreported these recounts as "audits that confirmed Joe won". Only one actual audit did happen, and it showed massive fraud in Maricopa Country. The mainstream media misreported those results by only reporting the 'recount' component of the audit - i.e. the Maricopa audit recounted the ballots, found the same number as the election, but they also found hundreds of thousands of those recounted ballots were fraudulent. But the mainstream media just said "the audit confirmed Joe's win". Thousands of witnesses signed affidavits swearing under oath that they witnessed election fraud. But the courts dismissed all the election fraud cases on standing, or on other procedural grounds, in order to prevent any of this evidence from being presented in an official public setting.
