This only works with hollow points. They're designed to expand that way to increase damage & stopping power. Usually they don’t open as cleanly as this. The even resistance of water gives those nice, consistent blooms. Only Glocks and a few other guns can fire underwater.

They’re loaded into massive rotating mills with raw ore and water. As the mill turns, the balls smash the rock into fine powder so gold, copper and other metals can be extracted. Even after they wear down they keep working. A relatively simple steel ball, produced by the thousands, does the brutal work of turning mountains into usable ore.
