Why is there a push to close Chicago Public Schools on May 1? Our kids need more time in the classroom, not less, yet Chicago parents are being asked for their kids to lose another day of school on May 1st for a political Day of Action. Parents and kids rely on schools for learning and consistency. Closing schools will send parents scrambling for babysitters or losing wages to stay home to care for their kids. Children were standing waiting for the bus when federal agents flooded an apartment complex. Kids started running in fear, and as they ran, an SUV followed. San Francisco’s public school students will now have more access to 1:1 tutors. SFUSD is expanding tutoring to reach 2,700 elementary school students, with a focus on improving third-grade literacy. Thank you to SFUSD and SF Ed Fund, for partnering with our Department of Children Youth and their Families and coming together on this tutoring expansion. And thank you to SF Parents for your advocacy in service of student outcomes. My administration will continue working closely with SFUSD to ensure students have the resources they need to succeed. Through our Family Opportunity Agenda, we’re focusing on what helps kids and families thrive—making sure every child has the support they need at key milestones, including in the classroom.

This study blew my mind. It found there’s ONE main key to earning a higher income. The study looked at kids from poorer families, and how they turned out as adults. Turns out, the number one indicator of their future income was not the socioeconomic status of their family. It was the socioeconomic status of the other people they’re around. This is called Economic Connectedness. What does that mean? Put bluntly, EC measures how many rich people and poor people are friends. When an area has higher economic connectedness, poor kids are more likely to make more money as adults. For example: • Minneapolis has an EC of 0.98. • Indianapolis’s is lower at 0.65. But… • Kids from low income families in Minneapolis reach the 43rd percentile of household income as adults. • Kids from the same background in Indianapolis only reach the 34th percentile. WHO you surround yourself with and WHERE you are has a huge impact on your monetary success. So we asked the question... Is it possible to be in the top 1% of earners without ever changing your environment? What do you think?

In the midst of multi facetted conflicts facing the world, Afghanistan and its women are forgotten story while their suffering because of Taliban reinsertions on them have increased. I take every opportunity to highlight the plight of my sisters back home. last evening I was delighted to be given Asian Women Achievement Award by Chair of Judging panel, sir Nick Young at AWA where I said”in 21st century women in my country are banned from every right, education, work, civic liberty and Afghanistan has become the open prison for its women”. This is not normal and must not be regarded as normal. As my sisters In Afghanistan continue to resist the status quo, we must stand in their support and amplify their voices for a change. Recently taliban have increased their pressure on women by banning them from attending annual university entrance exam and removing their names from running NGOS.

Elite students of Ivy League schools have glamorized oppression so much that they have now reached role play status to satisfy their fantasies. Here, the students have appropriated the suffering of Gazans and are cosplaying as living through humanitarian crisis. In their American make-believe story where Ivy League infrastructure sets the scene, the students play Gazans and the school administration plays Israel. Israel (the school) is blocking their “basic humanitarian aid” in this play, and if they don’t receive it soon, they will “die of thirst and starvation” (appropriating exact experiences of Gazans). They also destroy upper class buildings and claim them as “liberated” while the students repeat chants in zombie-like chorus, playing the roll of “freedom fighters” destroying Israeli infrastructure and claiming them freed. If I’m alive in a world where people don’t see the levels of perversion in this, I give up. You don’t see this in lower tier schools from kids of lower socio-economic standing because they aren’t plagued with the guilt of privilege that they’re seeking to launder through Middle East role plays of feigned suffering. This is as first world dystopia as it gets. Meanwhile, these Ivy League students who can have much more than a glass of water and as much food as their stomachs can take are commanding the attention of the media and the entire American audience, while actual Gazans who need humanitarian aid are ignored.
