This is the last time I will be having this conversation. Once we isolate this convo. to the pure defensive midfielder duties, there is a strong tactical case that Busquets was better. And you have to ask yourself to duties of a CDM. At the highest level, a #6 is not even primarily judged by tackles or goals. But Rodri edges Busquets in areas that have become increasingly valuable in the modern game & that is the reason some tacticos would say that Rodri is the evolution of Busquets who walked, so that Rodri could run. In these criteria, Rodri edges Busquets (who didn’t need that to be a specialist #6).
