⭐️: When we sang Choose (at BST), I went up for the first time to sing and I really wanted to take a picture. I even thought about asking the staff for my phone so I could take a picture. I seriously debated it a lot. That’s how beautiful it was, it almost felt too much just to take with my own eyes. It was a really happy moment. I think it might have been the best festival I’ve been to recently. For those who are new here, 文武両道 (bunburyōdō) is a Japanese idiom that embodies the warrior, scholar mindset. 文 : Literature/culture 武 : Martial 両 : Both 道 : Road I’m British. I’ve lived in Japan since 2006. I’ve been practicing martial arts the whole time (focusing on iaidō and karare). So 20 years of martial arts experience in Japan. (Iaidō 4th dan. So there have been changes, but in my opinion, positive ones. Even people who were overly fanatical, who weren’t really fans, have left. For me, that’s a good thing, because it’s healthier for a community when there’s a way of thinking that aligns with many of the other people who are part of the same group. So it’s fine this way, there’s been a bit of a clean-up. The change that probably happened is exactly this. The people who are here today are fewer in number, but they’re worth much, much, much more than at the beginning. I always say: quality is better than quantity, that’s for sure. So a high-quality community has been created, instead of a fandom that was about numbers before, and sometimes that’s better.
