Think about that. Their official position is to not contact federal authorities about an illegal immigrant in custody for a sex crime. How does that make anyone in Maryland safer? This isn't just about policy; it's a fundamental difference in worldview. Democrats in Annapolis seem to believe that federal law enforcement officers—the very people sworn to uphold our laws—are a greater threat than sex offenders who have no right to be in this country. They've even gone on record saying federal agents are "not our best and brightest." Is this the future we want for Maryland? Sex offenders who were mandated yet failed to register their residency were arrested by United States Marshals who checked on 883 sex offenders and found 25 not in compliance. Why, however, does Washington, DC not mandate sex offenders stay away from areas frequented by children, like 30 other states and many local jurisdictions require? It is time for DC to protect our most vulnerable! Demand protection for children from sex offenders who reside within 500 to 1000 feet of child friendly areas.

ICE agents in Yonkers, NY went to arrest one illegal immigrant with a criminal warrant and, in the process, detained two additional illegals as collateral arrests. Since sanctuary states refuse to cooperate with federal authorities and release foreign criminals from jail directly back onto the streets instead of into ICE custody, federal agents are now forced to go into neighborhoods to locate and arrest them. As a result, ICE ends up making collateral arrests. This situation didn’t have to happen. It could have been avoided if Democrats ensured that local law enforcement worked with ICE.
