In 1995 China step a " temporary" wooden structure at the Mischief Reef, inside Philippines Exclusive Economic Zone. According to Beijing, the wooden structure was meant to provide shelter to Chinese fishermen. That temporary structure built inside Philippines's EEZ, without Manila's consent was of course illegal. However, Philippines did nothing! Over the years that illegally built wooden structure got bigger and bigger, ultimately being turned into a massive military base.
