Magic123: One Image to High-Quality 3D Object Generation Using Both 2D and 3D Diffusion Priors paper page: present Magic123, a two-stage coarse-to-fine approach for high-quality, textured 3D meshes generation from a single unposed image in the wild using both2D and 3D priors. In the first stage, we optimize a neural radiance field to produce a coarse geometry. In the second stage, we adopt a memory-efficient differentiable mesh representation to yield a high-resolution mesh with a visually appealing texture. In both stages, the 3D content is learned through reference view supervision and novel views guided by a combination of 2D and 3D diffusion priors. We introduce a single trade-off parameter between the 2D and 3D priors to control exploration (more imaginative) and exploitation (more precise) of the generated geometry. Additionally, we employ textual inversion and monocular depth regularization to encourage consistent appearances across views and to prevent degenerate solutions, respectively. Magic123 demonstrates a significant improvement over previous image-to-3D techniques, as validated through extensive experiments on synthetic benchmarks and diverse real-world images.

Here's a look behind the scenes of how I used a 3d model, generated from an image, as a "driver" for ai animation. In the near future we'll see more 3d tools that support these types of workflows, with much more emphasis on enhancing user input instead of just letting the ai do everything. I used the 3d model to generate keyframes that I then animated in Luma Dream. By using a 3d model with a diffusion "layer" done with Krea, I got quite high quality frames with a relatively high consistency as well since the AI didn't have to "hallucinate" that much. I upscaled and detailed the frames using Magnific. Using semi-detailed 3d models as drivers for gen ai is very powerful, and it allows us to use models that are sculpted in a more free-flowing type of workflow that doesn't rely so much on high surface detailing or very time-consuming finish, but instead relies more on gestural 3d sculpting. #art #ai

At its core is a generalized 3D head decoder trained with perceptual supervision from DINOv2 and SAM 2.1. We find that our new perceptual loss formulation improves reconstruction fidelity compared to commonly-used methods such as LPIPS. Our trained reconstruction model is able to generate 3D-consistent heads from a single input image. Even with challenging side-view inputs, the model robustly infers missing regions for a coherent, high-fidelity output. In addition, our architecture seamlessly adapts to downstream tasks: by swapping the encoder, we can transform the model into a disentangled 3D editing pipeline. In this scenario, we can control geometry through - potentially hand-drawn - segmentation maps, and condition style via image or text prompt. The Fondant Custom Normals Blender addon is being tested, and we're aiming for a 1.0 release next week! The first feature is the Weighted Normals + Laplacian Smoothing Geometry Nodes modifier. This let's you calculate Normals that are as clean as a nice quad mesh even if your topology is a mess and triangulated! We'll be following up with more tools to support creating high quality Normals for 3D anime and vtuber characters. We have an optimized adjustable Face Normal Transfer proxy mesh nearly ready to go. Personalized 3D Generative Avatars from a Single Portrait Contributions: 1. Generate a personalized 3D avatar from a reference portrait image with controllable facial attributes. 2. Currently testing Hunyuan brand new 2.5 model for image to 3D. YUP! It's MAJOR improvement over 2.0, especially with making details look sharper, it can also reconstruct more detail. It also generates PBR materials now and you can automatically rig the character on the website. It's much better than Trellis and Tripo from my testing! Took it into Blender as well to compare Hunyuan 2.5 (on the left) and Hunyuan 2.0 (on the right). I wanted to see the mesh with a solid and material preview. If you're doing 3D printing, these would probably work very well. However...the biggest issue here is still topology which is a complete and utter mess, there's also still issues with texture projection...and the entire model is a single mesh, there needs to be a method to generate the model in parts BUT this tech is certainly improving. As someone that is also a 3D artist, I actually want to see what this tech is capable of generating to output 3D models.

HOLY SHIT! Sparc 3D is INSANE! All they need to do now is enable PBR texture support, object separation and decimation and this in my opinion completely replaces photogrammetry. The quality of the reconstruction of these 3D objects from a single image is mind blowing to me. Yes, the model is insanely dense to allow all of this detail but the fact that AI can generate with this level of fidelity is CRAZY!!! You can try it for free on Huggingface
