The US ag trade deficit hit a record $42.9B in FY2025 (USDA). The $25B for FY2026 is a forecast, not a result. It is ~42% lower, not "half", and largely driven by falling imports, not new markets. Exports to China are down. Source: USDA, Aug 2026

What was an ag trade surplus when we left office in 2020 had turned into a forecasted $50 billion deficit under Biden. We cut that deficit by 42% in a single year, and we’re on track to cut it even more this year. Our producers are opening new markets: ✅Corn exports up 25% ✅Ethanol exports up 20% ✅ Tree nut exports up 11% ✅ Dairy exports up 17% And we’re expanding domestic demand too with summer E15 and the largest Renewable Volume Obligations in American history.
