My wife’s grandfather was the only Marine in his platoon to make it off that island alive..

I became friends with a gentleman, through my job, who watched that flag lifted on Mt. Suribachi, actually the two flags. The first one was a smaller and less visible flag. He described his experiences as we'd talk over the years, vet to vet. He passed in his mid eighties, still serving his community and caring for his neighbors. This mockery of the sacrifices his generation made to preserve freedom is sickening. I pray these ignorant, infantile, entitled punks realize someday the errors of their behavior and hang their heads in shame

My father was a marine and the first time I saw that display of disrespect I had no words! Thank you for saying exactly how I felt as I watched those uneducated children mock my father’s memory!!! 🫡

My dad and one other man were kept with their group to train small arms during World War II in California. The rest went to Iwo Jima, they all died.

BZ🫡 My grandfather received the purple heart for his actions that day. He watched dozens of his brothers die taking that hill. My grandfather is one of the men on that statue. It would break his heart to know that what he went through was being mocked and not appreciated. 😔🇺🇸
