Calafiori was given a 5 second countdown in the first half before a throw-in was reversed… … Yet, here’s Leeds taking 33 seconds, and 21 seconds for a throw without Tierney counting with his hand in the air. Happened vs Brighton too. Narrative based officiating has to stop.

It’s infuriating. Every year they bring out a rule that no one asked for then impose with zero consistency.

Long throws are deemed as set pieces so they are allowed the extended time. Stupid element of the new rules.

It’s a set piece so the rule doesn’t apply. Dope.

This isn’t a thing.

@Ken_carson57 It is, however it’s stupid. What’s stopping a team taking a long throw from the halfway line?

@MKTRIB_ There are a lot of stupid rules, but pretending they aren’t rules to try and make a point is for dopes.

@Wrink1es It’s what Calafiori had his reversed for. It’s not a thing.

Funny that after all the decisions against Leeds and one sided reffing in arsenals favour it this is what you decide to pick apart

It’s dumb but they have made a decision that if a team is going to take a long throw it’s treated like a set play and it’s exempted from the countdown rules

You mean like the foul you got before the goal that wasn’t a foul. Ref favoured you lot all game

Yup and Odegaard the only one booked for time wasting

Are you just silly

Because you’re stupid, a long throw in doesn’t count for the 5 seconds rule. Thanks for also showing Leeds should have had a pen.

Silly rule that needs binning. But would like throw ins done away too really.

@UnitedLeeds_1d A bit like that age old rule of a manager needing to stay in his technical area otherwise they get booked. Yet every game without failure Arteta is practically on the pitch running down the wing and gets away with it time and time again 🤷🏻♂️ glass houses and all that

Haha this compared to the penalty miss on DCL and all the yellows we got for nothing contact. He was Arsenal bias all game pretty much.

It actually wasn't the player that picked up the ball wasn't the player that took the throw in

Look at the second video, you can see him pick the ball up.

That's not Ampadu, Ampadu is no4

Referee countdowns occur when the referee deems a player is "unfairly delaying" the restart. The act of setting up a long throw in a reasonable fashion is not considered an unfair delay.

So why was Calafiori’s reversed? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Because he was obviously unfairly delaying the restart. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

IF the ref senses that the player is walking away from the ball or leaving the ball on the cone, they will blow the whistle & give the player 5 seconds to throw the ball. Leeds player didn’t do any of that & took 18 seconds from picking up the ball, lining up & throwing it in.

Learn the rules dickhead, if you are planning a long throw it’s classed as a set piece.

Embarrassing 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Yet kayode took 20 minutes with his against Villa and the ref never did a thing…

Cracks me up the tweets following Arsenal games every week. Spout on about bias and the only thing biased is their opinion 😂 Numerous things weren’t correct yesterday. No mention of the fact Tanaka should have seen red, but we’ll never see that Martinelli incident ever again

Tell me you know nothing about football without telling me you know nothing about football 🤣🤣🤣

All these new silly football rules are made for Arsenal only mate...they only come in play against them & them only

I think your also forgetting that in the rule book it states it is up to the discretion of the ref to start the countdown

More time allowed for a long throw

@UnitedLeeds_1d Only an Arsenal fan would be moaning about the opposition taking their time to take a throw when 2-1 up in injury time 🤣🤣🤣 what a melt

Stuff like this is why the rules are so stupid in the first place. Unlimited time to take a “long throw in”, but god forbid you take more than 5 seconds on any other throw in. Not to mention Odegaard getting a yellow for taking too long on a FREE KICK in a dangerous area.

Long throw into the box is treated like a free kick, they don't use a 5 second countdown. They didn't last season

No, the rules are different for set piece long throws, you have longer. I know it's a silly rule

The "long throw-in takers can take as long as they want" shite is infuriating

Yep, cos Arsenal never ever do anything like this or get away with it. Your manager plays on the wing FFS.

Long throws exempt from the 5 second rule. Ridiculous but true.

It's because they're long throws i.e. going into the box. The rule is fucking stupid and will be selectively applied however this isn't it. Arsenal fan btw.

It's called subconscious bias

Long throws are exempt from the countdown. (Bonkers I know)

Very true. Until highlighted by pundits this will never change

EPL only took part of the new rule. Regular throw ins = 5 seconds. Long throw ins = no timer.
