The moment she pressed her tiny hand to the glass, something in the room shifted. You could see her whole face light up as if this cold barrier wasn't even there. And for a brief second, the man in the orange uniform forgot where he was, because the little girl staring back at him was his whole world. Caleb had been locked up for a little more than a year after a night that went wrong in every possible way. He never denied what he did. He owned it. But owning it didn't make the weight of missing his daughter any lighter. When he went in, Lila was barely forming her first sentences. Now, at around two and a half, she talked nonstop. She knew colors, she knew songs, and she asked for her dad every morning. His wife, Emery, never missed a visit. She carried Lila on her hip through security, through the metal detectors, through the long hallway that always smelled like bleach. Lila never complained. She always came with the same excitement, the same little bounce in her walk, like today might finally be the day she could hug him. The officer nodded. Caleb stepped forward. The glass was clean enough to see every detail of his daughter's smile. "Hey, my little princess. Daddy's right here." "Hey, Dad." Emery smiled behind her, brushing Lila's hair out of her face. "She talks about you every single day." Caleb swallowed hard, fighting the sting in his eyes. "Love... I love you more than anything in this world, okay? Put your hand right here for me." "I love you too, Daddy." Lila pressed her small palm against the partition. Caleb matched it. Their hands lined up perfectly through the cold barrier, but the feeling was warm enough to break him. She leaned forward, giving the glass a gentle kiss, and he closed his eyes as if he could feel it for real. People walking past pretended not to stare, but moments like this always pull reactions out of strangers. Some see hope. Some see heartbreak. Others don't know what to feel at all, because everyone carries their own idea of what a parent should be and how much a second chance is worth. Caleb didn't think about any of that. He only saw his daughter looking at him like nothing in her tiny heart had changed. The guard signaled that time was almost up. Emery lifted Lila a little higher so her face stayed level with his. Caleb breathed in slow, letting himself memorize every detail. "When I come home," he whispered, "I'll make you proud. Every single day." Lila nodded with a seriousness only small children can pull off, as if she understood more than anyone expected. When they turned to leave, Caleb kept his hand on the glass for a few seconds longer. Not to hold on to them, but to hold on to the promise he'd just made. Anyone who's ever loved a child knows exactly why that moment stays with you long after the room goes quiet.

Alastor’s skin tone is very important to his perspective as a character, let’s be SO real right now. He was someone discriminated against in life who had to work all the harder to succeed - while the entertainment industry catered exactly to the exact types of people America did: rich, white men. Alastor wasn’t afforded ANY of that privilege, ESPECIALLY in the South. He started life that many systemic steps behind, while others he often interacted with had a head start. He learned that brilliance and talent was not always protection, not when his legitimacy was withheld, how his voice could be celebrated while his body remained suspect, his presence tolerated only when disembodied and entertaining. So what did he do? He made sure that he wouldn’t start in the afterlife at the bottom. He conducted rituals, murders, research - all to reach the other side, and essentially plan his OWN head start. Even in his dialogue, the reference to “I know what awaits a man like me,” “exist in Hell a tortured soul,” “I want to secure myself amongst the highest demons” — all can be read as metaphors of counter-containment and oppression. Alastor is far aware of how he is received in spaces on Earth, and how he wants to secure himself much higher & outside of those preconceptions - his own special privilege. Let’s not forget this critical part to Alastor’s character - it gives further context to how we see him navigate his afterlife. He has already lived inside hierarchies that assign punishment in advance, and he refuses to let that happen again.

The tactics he uses are not the tactics of a refined defense attorney.” Considering he is now fundraising for him and openly supporting his witness intimidation and harassment, I guess that arm’s length got shorter, and I think we all know at this point that their tactics are pretty similar.

Regarding Sale's Balk... Basically what I said. It's the David Price/Hybrid windup rule. Sale didn't declare he was going from the windup for that hitter (even though he did declare he was pitching from the windup for the previous hitter). Sale's done this his entire career and never had to declare batter by batter. It's something that's given leeway generally, but wasn't in this situation.

Caleb Hammer wants people to believe that the individual who made the sexual claims against him isn’t to be trusted and that he has grown since this incident a couple years ago. However, after looking deeper into the story, it seems Caleb Hammer has created a frat bro like work environment that even just a few weeks ago has no problems with making inappropriate sexual jokes in front of his employees. I worked in corporate America for 10 years and had a boss get fired for much less than this.

Of all the things Karen Read and her attorney David Yannetti have done, the worst is their attacks on the O'Keefes. Karen and her team have reappropriated a quote from David Yanetti to Paul O'Keefe. Yanetti made the comment that John O'Keefe looked like he had gone rounds with Tyson. Karen and her team then began claiming it was Paul who said it in order to bolster the believability of their manufactured conspiracy, a beyond cruel thing for anyone to do to a victim's family. Below is Yanetti making the comment, the Reads attributing the quote to Paul in Vanity Fair, and Aidan Kearney taunting Paul with it in Facebook messages. Shameful behavior by this group.
