There have been deliberate attacks inside the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton and clashes outside the Lakshmi Narayana Hindu Temple in Surrey. Additionally, Sikh leaders from the Ross Street Gurdwara in Vancouver have sought a preemptive injunction ahead of consular camps. These incidents are not only shameful but also deeply concerning for the peace and mutual respect between the Sikh and Hindu communities. It is important to emphasize that pro-Khalistani elements do not represent the Sikh community as a whole. Similar acts of "Gunda Gardi" (hooliganism) occurred last November at the Khalsa Diwan Society Gurdwara in Abbotsford, BC. In that incident, a well-respected Sikh family—including a young couple, their child, and an elderly father who was a retired army officer—were verbally abused and harassed inside the Gurdwara premises. Disturbingly, these individuals were subjected to vile questions about sexual violence, targeting both the Jat Sikh husband and wife in a manner that no one should ever have to endure. The family had come to the Gurdwara Sahib to obtain a life certificate for their elderly Gursikh father, a required document for the continuation of his pension from the Government of India. The Consulate General of India in Vancouver had organized a free camp within the Gurdwara at the request of the Gurudwara Management Committee. This initiative was meant to make it easier for elderly citizens to avoid the long queues, high parking costs, and hassle of traveling downtown, while ensuring they could receive necessary services conveniently within their community. This distressing incident serves as a stark reminder to the silent majority of the Sikh community that these radicalized pro-Khalistani elements believe they can act with impunity, abusing and threatening others under the guise of free speech. In light of this, I respectfully appeal to all Gurdwara Management Committees in North America to consider boycotting individuals affiliated with Khalistani separatist groups. Taking this step is crucial for protecting the Sikh community from further radicalization and preserving the sanctity of our places of worship. Hopefully all UK politicians on all sides watched or will watch Dabinderjit Singh speak with Sophy Ridge and Wilfred Frost this morning on Sky News so eloquently about a very difficult and challenging issue with the tragic death of Henry Novak. Politicians need to learn from Dabinderjit Singh and recognise the Sikh community has acted impeccably throughout and back the public inquiry suggested by the Sikh Federation (UK) as the police, Crown Prosecution Service and the courts have failed Henry Novak and the Sikh community. Many politicians that have met, know and worked with Dabinderjit Singh have never failed to be impressed by his in-depth knowledge, experience and the ability to connect through excellent communication skills. Civil servants need to engage with the new leadership of Sikh Federation (UK) to deal with Anti-Sikh hate (it will be 25 years since 9/11 in a few months), a statutory Code of Practice on the Sikh articles of faith (that is desperately needed due to ignorance) that was raised by Rob Marris MP in 2005, more than 20 years ago with a Labour Government Minister.

I just called the number on the sign and was told by the first person that spoke with me that the homes were being sold to the public but you had to be Sikh to buy them. The second person, likely Manheet Singh of Juno Homes, was quick to correct the record and said the homes were open to anyone. He said the sign called it a “Sikh community” because it included a temple, and that there was a misunderstanding. I told him if a community with a Christian church in the center advertised itself as a “Christian community” it would skirt the line (and likely violate the Fair Housing Act). He argued Mormons build communities and prefer their own religion but allow others, and that the Sikh community is about believing in one God and is open to all. Under normal circumstances I would have identified myself as a member of the media but I called anonymously to ensure I received more honest answers. It was announced on the line before I started recording.
