811 won't mark a Priviate waterline. Also a slip fix on a main is retarded.

A slip repair coupling on a main line? Oh you screwed the home owner over with that move

811 is only marking the utility owned services. That’s beyond the meter so you’re out of luck. You find the meter and find where the service enters the home and draw your best conclusions but things don’t always take the easiest and straightest path. We used GPR services in some condos because they ran the electric under the basements. Only had to do that one time to learn.

811 wouldn’t locate this anyways.

I was on a job were they came out and marked were the 10 inch water main was at. They were 20 feet off, when it was hit with a 3 yard bucket the water removed about a 30 foot wide section of the road in about 15 minutes. 10 inch pipe with 140 psi.

pretty sure 811 doesn't mark irrigation 😀 or any water other than major lines.

Been there, done that! Those are all SoCal Gas trucks. And, yes, we were drilling soldier piles in the middle of the street… 😬

My second fence job, we called 811, and they were way off where the lines were. One of the lines was 18 feet off of the mark We hit neighborhood telecom lines 4 times during that project Brutal

It’s the law! Even moving a tablespoon of dirt technically requires it! But why was there a pvc line that small and deep in that backyard?!

Are you supposed to use a slip on a main? 🤔

I used to work at a community College and contractors caught a big fiber pipe and wound it up like spaghetti on a fork. So hard it pulled equipment off a rack 1000 feet away

Where they use plastic underground for your water supply? It’ll burst soon

Don't ever let the guy who drilled into your pipe fix it. Even if he was a plumber get a different plumber.

Buried expansion joint and blue goo in my main line? Oh yah I’m contacting your insurance after this one big dawg. I hope you’re bonded.

They wouldn’t have marked that if it’s on the private side of the meter

That’s not the water main

Bit 01's profile picture

Yes, call 811 so when you hit a line 12 feet off the mark they have to pay to fix it.

811 doesn’t know about your backyard sprinkler pipe.

Dizzle 20's profile picture

The sprinkler is not the worst thing to hit. High pressure of this is the worst.

So you can drink that blue glue or primer whatever that is?

TexasNativee's profile picture

811 isn’t for water. It’s for gas/electric. There’s isn’t a way to know where a main is exactly, you can look at nearby hydrants for a rough estimate of how far up from the street the line is and that’s it.

At least you saved all that time digging that hole with that fancy machine.
