Busy streets, noise, dust, constant movement; it can overwhelm you at first. But that’s only one layer of it. Because after 15 years of coming back again and again, what you start to notice is what sits underneath: the colour of the markets, the rhythm of daily life, the way strangers treat you like you belong, even when you don’t speak the language. It’s not something that fades after one trip; it’s what keeps pulling you back. There’s an energy here that doesn’t translate through headlines or quick clips. It’s not polished or quiet, it’s alive. Messy at times, yes, but deeply human. Like anywhere, it has its problems. But reducing it to a single word misses everything that makes it what it is.
