@JustinPetersMin “I have my own private opinion that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what nowadays is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else.” -Charles Spurgeon-

If Calvinist ideas have always been part of the mainstream of church teaching, why is it rejected by all three historical churches (Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Oriental Orthodoxy).

@D_B_Harrison Phil, I can’t be the only one who thinks your Calvin looks suspiciously like John MacArthur with a beard. 😂

TULIP is of the DEVIL along with its Lordship Salvation⚠️

Let’s just think we may look back on this, and what Dinesh has done, and see God’s fingerprints all over it. How many Arminians actually knew much of anything about this, and now they’ve seen the reasoned, biblical responses as to why Calvinism is the Gospel.

I'm a Christian not a Calvinist, but I get accused of being a Calvinist because I take God at his word. Also, I don't see any of the anti-calvinist people using scripture to point to as their foundation of understanding. It's always some argument they came up with. Almost like it's self worship.

No, it's the most blasphemous heresy that demeans the grace of God towards mankind.

@TerriGreenUSA Calvinism is neither sound doctrine nor an anchor of Christianity.

Calvinism is the narcissism of a French lawyer in the 16th century. That’s all it ever was or ever will be. Thankfully God can take a joke so he’s not offended by it.

And what exactly is that ? Answer God judges the unrepentant in time if they refuse to listen despite His patience and multiple warnings God shows mercy and grace to those who turn to Him No power in the universe can stop either of those interventions of God. Adoption speaks to the spiritual inheritance that a believer has.

No it's just weird because it's another gospel. Negates free will or a choice to accept Christ, negates the Great Commission or evangelism. Arrogantly assumes an elite can only be saved, condemns anointed Christians. It is only a hellish gospel of pharisees with no saving power.

Calvinism is not “the gospel.” It is a system imposed on the gospel. It’s built off of a corrupt minded man trying to make a name for himself. See: Jacobus Arminius, Joseph Smith. Calling it “not a weird anomaly” and quoting Spurgeon that “Calvinism is the gospel” does not make TULIP the plain reading of Scripture. It is a later theological construct that redefines grace, election, and the free offer so that God withholds the ability to believe from the non-elect by eternal decree, then still commands them to repent and judges them for the unbelief He made certain. That is not the simplicity of the cross. That is a corrupt-minded man’s interpretation tying the Bible into knots to exalt a system and make a name for the system’s architects. The gospel of the grace of God is this: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Cor. 15:1-4). “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13). God “will have all men to be saved” (1 Tim. 2:4). That is not an anomaly. That is the free offer. Calvinism is the anomaly that obscures it.

Interesting take. Out of the three principal branches of Christianity, the Catholics and Eastern Orthodox reject Calvinism entirely. Calvinism is an entirely Protestant proposal. Around 10% of Protestants embrace it. That doesn't make Calvinism wrong, but it's definitely on the fringe of Christian belief.

Fair on the pedigree. Same holds the other way: Arminius and the Remonstrants argued inside Reformed categories, not against grace. Both sides confess salvation begins with God's initiative. The real dispute is narrower than the caricatures.

One thing I can't wrap my head around, how do you explain free will if God has to draw us to him? Is it at that point we make the choice to follow or go our own way?

What Phil conveniently omits is that Calvin was a cold blooded killer - there are many documented references of him demanding the death penalty for those he disagreed with in Geneva; mercifully Phil stops short of this Calvinism

If Calvinism is true, then why are 95% of Christians predestined to be non-Calvinists?

When there are very “interesting” Christ-followers asserting the nonsensical notion that Jesus was/is a Calvinist, then yes Calvinism is an anomalous outlier.

I love you Pastor Phil, but are you really saying that monergism anchors the church? How's PCUSA doing these days? How about United Reformed? RCA? CRC? UCC?

Indeed, it is demonic influence targeted at Christians to lure them away from the truth.
