Today, I had a firsthand experience with the Social Health Authority (SHA) at Mbagathi Hospital, and it reinforced my belief that our government systems can work if we support and refine them. SHA is a great initiative that ensures access to healthcare for all Kenyans, but its implementation needs improvement. One key challenge I noted is the lack of civic education many people don’t understand how SHA works or how to register. Standardizing hospital rates for equivalent services would also help prevent patients from being forced to pay out-of-pocket expenses beyond what SHA covers. If properly implemented, SHA can truly ease the financial burden on Kenyans seeking healthcare. Today, I was able to discharge five patients at Mbagathi using SHA, and they paid nothing. This is proof that the system works when applied correctly. Instead of discouraging it, we should embrace it, give constructive feedback, and push for better implementation. Civic education is key, and those responsible for executing this program must ensure Kenyans fully understand and own it. Together, we can make universal healthcare a reality. Haya ni maoni yangu kwa Leo .

I’ll say the quiet part out loud: It was the federal government that broke our healthcare system. And we have a large amount of our aging population, that VOTED for the Liberals who crippled it. They brought in more Temporary Foreign Workers, more asylum seekers & focused on solely on “revenues” from them but, THEY DID NOT ACCOUNT FOR WHAT THIS WOULD DO TO OUR HEALTHCARE AND COSTS. No amount of taxes can fix this. And instead, Carney gives a foreign country $2.5 Billion while Canadians die waiting for healthcare.

The Canada Health Act is clear: care is based on need, not on your ability to pay. The UCP's healthcare scheme is breaking that fundamental promise to Albertans and creating a system where money talks louder than medical need. The Alberta NDP will always fight for a strong public health-care system that works for everyone, regardless of what tax bracket you’re in. Albertans deserve care they can rely on, when and where they need it.

The answer to changing healthcare is embedded in this 33 seconds- Looking at the factory he built, Elon says he would rather “lose power and money” than not speak truth. But at every hospital, Med School, & pharma co, leaders are KNOWINGLY lying bc truth would hurt income. We need adults to have a moral conscience and stop throwing patients (especially kids) into the shredder to prop the largest and fasted growing industry in the country (healthcare) We need doctors who treat autoimmune diseases to stop signing patients up for lifetime injections and start talking about how food interventions can keep them out of the hospital for good. We need President Biden - who received more donations from pharma than any member of Congress in American history - to say NO when he is pressured to pick a person to lead the NIH who received $200 million from Pfizer over her career. We need members of the Trump administration to admit the disastrous error of appointing a panel to create nutrition guidelines that had 95% of its members on payroll of food and/or pharma companies. We need nutrition researchers to refuse donations from food companies. Instead, it is the lifeblood of the industry. They then need to decide that the future of our children are worth leveraging their positions for, even it means losing wealth or power. They need to decide the first principle of health is keeping patients healthy, not managing disease. Leaders in healthcare know the truth - they just need to speak it.
