i dont think a big slug from a railgun actually counts as a bullet it's definitely a projectile, or even a missile, but bullets are fired with a controlled explosion and rail gun slugs are accelerated with only electro magnetism.

You couldn’t aim directly at the earth. The moons or its earth over 2,200mph. The projectile would maintain the same velocity. You have to fire it at over 138,000mph to be able to aim directly at earth and maybe not miss it entirely.

That's why I use magnetic weapons in my books. But in space battles, laser cannons, assuming that the combat laser is not the same as the one we know. It must have enormously concentrated energy that evaporates over distance. It is safer if weapons in space have a limited range. Or... magnetic cannons should have an auto-detonation safety built in. We don't want projectiles floating endlessly through space until they hit something. Especially when they carry a nuclear warhead.
