A battery cell warps and touches its neighbour intermittently throwing a wobbly, I’ve had this twice, usually during a cold snap, just my penny’s worth🙃

I think this is absolutely what could have happened

Is the correct battery fitted and was the car told that it had a new battery.... Ask me how I know...

I believe so as she's had it a few years with no issues

If the car is not “informed” that it has a new battery fitted it can throw codes. And if the battery is from the brand “exide” dump it from the car asap.

Has your Kingbolen got DOIP Jon? I switched from a K10 Pro to a TopDon One with DOIP and on newer cars like this it feels like you have more access. Also side note, what do think of Optimate? I am going to need a new Battery tender soon and they seem very good value from what I can see

@ProBikeUK is where I get my @OptimateUK from. Best thing I own I don't know what DOIP is 😅

@ProBikeUK @OptimateUK Thanks Jon, good to know. DOIP = Data Over Internet Protocol Not really sure how it works but I was impressed when I used it. Felt like there was more access to things but I may have been over excited 🤷‍♂️

Tracking device draining battery? Something in the 12v socket? Thatcher?

Not that I am aware

You're near Grantham, could be an errant Thatcher haunting the car.

Does the car have more than one battery ? Ie a smaller 12v battery in the boot. Volvo have 2 batteries and when the smaller battery goes belly up all the warning lights come on.

Battery replacement is the best & cheapest option. Any battery 2 years or older is suspect, also worth checking the earths from the negative terminal to the body & engine by loosening, spraying bolt threads with WD40 & retighten securely. Audi has a bad reputation with Mechanics

As others said, is the replacement the correct battery chemistry, Ah, CCA, S/S, coded to the car, only driven short journeys with S/S active? So many issues these days caused by a slightly low voltage that older cars would have ignored. Same with parasitic drain.

Is this Audi auto dubbed?

I had an older Audi A6 C6 that used to cut everything off in the car when the voltage dropped below a certain level. I seem to remember changing the battery three times over the course of the seven years I owned the car. Not sure if that’s helpful.

Is the battery charging? Is it being discharged when standing??! Check charging currents when running & discharge current when the car is locked. Classic causes are... a malfunction in the central locking causing ECUs to NOT go in standby mode when locked. All very easy to check.

Just change the battery, then code it in with your diag tool. It’s probably a cheap battery that wasn’t coded when fitted.

Could just be battery not upto the job, testers give false readings at times, best off with a drop tester but stop start batteries dont like that kind of test unfortunately Most aftermarket batteries aren't worth the money you pay, bosch all the way to rule those gremlins out

Does it have a dash cam running all the time? I switched mine to an ignition live as it was draining the battery when parked.

Nope

Interesting it’s got a replacement battery already, mine is a year older and still on the original. Might just be a poor quality battery.

Battery slightly low on voltage, triggers a bunch of errors which go with a charge and then clear down?

Modern cars are very sensitive to low battery states. They can have all sorts of tantrums. As I’m sure you are aware, if it’s been allowed to go flat even once, it’s probably curtains for that battery.
