But this is only short term. We need to find them somewhere to live and get them on their feet. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone wants to bring food down to them message me and I’ll connect you with them. If anyone wants to send them a few quid for food message me and I’ll send you his bank details. They are in safe hands being looked after by The Street Guardians but if any of you can help take the pressure off them it would be a big help. As they are paying everything out of their own pocket. Bad news I’m afraid. We’ve got her into a hotel and she’s been chased out by certain people: This is the sad story of a young girl we found on the streets. She’s been put into a hotel but they have been banging on her door with knives threatening to kill her. The Liverpool Guardians have had to go and get her out and find somewhere else for her. Apparently police have been there and there has been all kinds of drama. I’ll update the full story when I find out more.

This video is from the border area between Turkey and Syria. People are trying to cross the border from Turkey to Syria, or vice versa, and they have tried to take their cats with them. Unfortunately they have not got the required documents for their animals to cross the border. The border officials could not let them pass. The cats could not enter, so they have been abandoned. People contacted us for help. Some of these cats have been there for a few weeks. We will go and save who we can and bring them back to Ernestos where they will be health checked, treated and neutered and spayed. Please, we need to ask you for a little help. Last night, I got a late call from a breast surgeon here in Austin, TX. Her 22-year-old patient— just days away from a mastectomy—found out the plastic surgeon she had been seeing is out-of-network and her insurance doesn’t cover any out-of-network care. So now what? The breast surgeon called me and asked for a favor, knowing I take cases like this on, even if the payments are low…too low to cover the costs for me and my practice…because I think it’s the right thing to do. My team is doing everything we can to get her seen this week and to get her case approved. But here’s the thing: this isn’t a one-off. This is yet another example of how having insurance doesn’t mean you have access to care. These narrow networks are failing patients. This young woman has cancer now. She needs surgery now. And we don’t have the luxury of time to wait for policy change. The sad reality is I can’t afford to keep doing this for patients, even though I want to. We need a better system for patients and for the doctors trying to care for them. I believe we can fix this. But we need the help of the government. We need laws to change, and we don't have the luxury of time.

THIS IS ETHNIC CLEANSING. It’s not a concept learned just in history books, it is now, it is live on your screens. No one can say they didn’t know. How can the world let this happen? The Sameer Project has been providing food and water in the North, donate: we will continue to operate in the North as long as we can. We listened to the people - they asked us for help to remain steadfast, to stay on their land. But now they are asking us for a different kind of help - for a chance at survival. Messages and pleas are pouring in. People need help with transportation South, with shelter, with basic necessities. Patients in hospitals are being prematurely discharged because of capacity, amputees with no wheelchairs out on the streets. Families are walking barefoot more than 13 miles / 21 kilometers with no belongings just to escape the bombs. How will they all leave? Who will take them South? Where will they all go? There is no land and no shelter. For the past month we have been preparing for this moment, at the same time hoping it never would come. The Sameer Project secured 4 more parcels of land, more tents for the land, and are working on making them suitable to move to with bathrooms, fencing, and electricity. But of course we cannot help everyone. With over 1 million people in the North we have to triage the most severe medical cases and vulnerable families. We are opening up a new fundraising link to assist. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Because of the scarcity of available resources everything is incredibly expensive: fuel for vehicles, renting trucks, tents, the land itself, food and water for the displaced. The essential needs are endless. We estimate that we will need $750,000 to open the additional camps and to aid in the response to the displacement. This includes rent of the land, land prep (ie, leveling soil), tents for families, fencing, bathrooms, water infrastructure, expansion of the medical point, expansion of the educational tent, transportation fees, and more. We need to provide water and food, medical services, mattresses and essentials, the list goes on. This is the biggest undertaking of The Sameer Project yet, but with your support we can have an immediate impact by providing a safe landing spot for hospital overflow patients, families with disabilities, orphans, the Civil Defense workers and ambulance drivers, mutual aid team members that serve their community - those who are vulnerable and those who will also be able to support others during this horrific time.
