In the early days, I experimented with powering the i2 heatbed through the smooth rods and LM8UUs. It worked - if you want to go crazier, but I was only looking for a way to lose the thick cables powering it.

CAN toolboards with higher current outputs are starting to hit the market. There is no reason a toolboard couldn't be mounted on the stepper of a non-captive leadscrew for movement and bed thermals, no wires. The star topology is functional at these distances.

This is so cool. Very curious if you see much faster wear on copper vs steel rails.
