Can someone explain whether ADAS would actually have helped avoid this accident? A boy on a bike suddenly entered the road without braking. I’ve driven many cars with ADAS and I’ll be very frank, it wouldn’t have helped. ADAS behaviour is not predictable at all. Some features are good but this braking and all is better left to the driver.
Both of you didn't slow down at junction! By the way whats the Magmount antenna for?
Everyone must try to stop at intersections, look and then proceed. 99% Indians don’t do this.
Both are bad drivers and at equal fault. Should've slowed down at the intersection. Any competent ADAS will work wonderfully better than this. It'd slow down near the intersection, would keep an eye out on both sides for incoming traffic, apply brakes much earlier and more smoothly.
The 'boy' didn't enter the road, the car driver and the bike rider are both approaching an intersection and didn't exercise caution. A really intelligent system like @Tesla_AI would slow down to appropriate levels. Most of the dumb Indian drivers don't. So, if all cars in India had Tesla FSD level ADAS, there will be much less accidents.
All this ADAS debate is missing the obvious point. Had both the biker and the truck slowed down and approached that crossroads with caution, this incident wouldn't have happened in the first place. No tech needed
First basic question here is why driving at high speed in the inner road when intersection are mere few metres ahead . That's stupidity of driver . Dnt blame technology
You both are at fault, only if one of you had a functional brain, this wouldn't have happened.
Seems difficult, the vehicle would stop from ADAS braking but if another vehicle was tailgating OP as usual, it would push the car on to the bike anyways. Swerving seems to be the better option.

Why do I feel the vehicle was at a higher speed considering it's a residential area? Bike rider is also at fault as always, living on other people's Karma points.
I got Volvo XC60 & volvo is supposed to safest car but is most unfit to run on indian roads.U can’t disable ADAS of Volvo & my car puts full brakes when any 2/4 wheeler is coming from wrong side & your look in rear mirror that someone has hit from behind or not.
Relieved this wasn't more serious, though recovering from a fractured leg is no small thing wishing the rider a smooth recovery. On the ADAS question, automatic emergency braking is designed to reduce impact speed, not eliminate it entirely, so the outcome can vary depending on exact timing and angle...
Bikers all across drive like maniacs. Hiked was not at all at fault.
To avoid accident, follow the rules. You didn't slow down at the intersection. Driving a heavy suv at speeds not meant for the specific road.
Front emergency braking is not a useful feature for India. We drive with a very little margin of error. In narrow lanes, biker behind you may be just 1 inch away from bumper.
People should slow down at intersections especially when it's not the main road. But no one is ready to have that conversation YET !
Drive-slow-stop-look on tricity 4 ways, even if they seem empty from little far.
These are blind cuts, a good driver will slow down and may like to give a small horn. Being in car doesn't give the rite to drive through, bigger vehicles always have higher responsibilities.
Only FSD can prevent this
The current levels of ADAS are just the beginning, give it time , to to enter every 2, 3 and 4 wheeler. We will certainly see lives being saved
May be, the car I drive, many times it will warn when a 🐦 flies in front. Braking on time at this speed, slightly doubtful, if it would have avoided hitting.
Hilux driver also entering without braking 😂 Both are equally at fault for not slowing down in an intersection.

The "give way to the right" rule is a standard traffic guideline where, at an unmarked intersection or an intersection where all approaches have the same priority (such as a four-way stop), drivers must yield to any vehicle approaching from their right

It won’t react in this situation since considering the speed of your car ADAS would have known that the biker would not have come in your way. If you braked then it would have ensured it will stop before the biker
Not sure about ADAS, but driving safe would've definitely avoided this crash. The driver was above the safe speed for the 4 way uncontrolled merge. Needless to say, the biker should've slowed down too. Only speed breakers can reduce the crashes like these on Indian roads.

May or may not work , if u had enabled front and side departure both . Anyways we don’t use ADAS inside cities . Works well in highways
Nope adas India level won't do jack shit here. Tesla maybe yes and maybe the highest level of adas ? I might be wrong but India adas doesnt have cross traffic alert right? Just lane change/ forward collision and so on
Would have helped if he was slower. Much slower. ADAS can’t cure dumb.
Biker , already has committed himself to enter the main road from the lane without judging the traffic
Have experienced both + and - of it. 1. Was closely behind a car but was in full control. All of a sudden ADAS kicked in and the car behind me hit me. Took a month to get it repaired 2. I was taking my parked car out in reverse but didn't a notice bike. This time ADAS saved me
