This unfortunately is very common in India. We lose a lot of wildlife due to train and roadkills. While many of our wild animals are recovering from the brink of extinction, much of their original habitat and range are being fragmented by transport infrastructure, dams and farms

Complete barricading on both sides of the track is required. Also CCTV to monitor tracks on the train as well as on the signals. This could help in lotsa cases which results in death of animals & mishaps which happens due to human interference.

An engine driver who cannot see such huge elephant is not fit to drive trains Such driver may not see train coming from opposite side and will cause big accident. May result in huge casualties if such drivers drive trains @RailwaySeva @easternrail
