Can someone please explain to me why there seems to be no organisation or structure to the Mecca pilgrimage? Hundreds of people are killed in stampedes every year visiting the Kaaba, and for whatever reason there seems to be zero effort to prevent it from happening. Why?

That looks like Muslims' excuse to come into sexual contact with other men. I mean, they're naked or half-naked, willingly pressing against each other. What other conclusion is there? Any straight man would probably think, "Nope, not worth it," and avoid the whole thing.
