Design something that will unlock a bms. Many models lock with good crlls but hit zero. I have 10 brand new Powersonic lifep04 lithium 12v batteries. Over 5k, sat never used and bms locked due to cells being zero.

I’m planning a long article about the baghdad battery. But first things first: let me see it working! I don’t care “expert opinion”, facts are facts. So I set up this “baghdad battery” in a rush, as a proof of concept, and TÁDÁMMM! it works. Even this rudimentary setup can produce 0.44 Volts. Copper + iron + orange 🍊 juice. (Which is not really surprising if someone knows the physics behind… it should have 0.78 Volts instead khm.) This is just one battery cell. You can connect them serially to have higher voltage or parallel to reach higher current. This is it for today. I have a lot of 🗿s to cast instead of this stupid battery 🔋

We're working on a brand new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra at EV Clinic in Belgrade that was damaged during transport from China. The low-voltage battery was completely depleted and damaged during recovery attempts. We've connected directly to the CAN bus to diagnose the issue and discovered that the BMS high-voltage interlock software system is latched, preventing us from re-enabling the vehicle. We've repaired the 12V lithium battery, but we need the original diagnostic tool to reset the BMS and resolve this software interlock that's protecting the high-voltage battery. Stay tuned…

On June 26, an all-hands fire broke out inside a basement apartment in a private dwelling in Queens. FDNY Fire Marshals determined the cause of the fire to be a lithium-ion battery that was charging in the kitchen of the fire apartment. The fire trapped a 48-year-old man inside the home, who had to escape through a bedroom window. The victim later died at a hospital. This is the first death in 2026 connected to a lithium-ion battery fire that happened this year. Where possible, charge and store lithium-ion batteries or micromobility devices OUTSIDE. Do not charge them overnight, and do not block any exits. It can mean the difference between life and death.

A Hybrid is the Worst of all Worlds 11,000 Euros extra costs after 100k km driven. "Again, the "worst of both worlds" applies to the 2018 BMW G30 eDrive Hybrid, whose complete battery pack is so worn out that repair isn't feasible without replacing all modules. This vehicle has only covered 150,000 km, yet it requires a new 9 kWh battery pack costing €11,000. Despite active thermal control, the cells have degraded and inflated under high current rates, where a small battery supports a large powertrain. Each kilometer driven in EV mode damages the battery pack four times faster than the larger battery packs found in full EVs. Hybrids are truly unsustainable and cannot be a part of any eMobility narratives. Lead acid is cheap and fine for cars. Lithium ion is light and great for electronics. Lithium phosphate is tough but pricey. Nickel iron beats them all in lifespan, but it’s heavy and bulky. We were first in world for 1 cells swap…but… Is it possible to repair any high-voltage battery (HVB)? In reality—no, not always. The end-of-life for an HVB depends heavily on mileage, aging, cell type, C-rate, and the overall design and lifespan expectations. Repairability varies significantly depending on whether the pack uses pouch, prismatic, blade, or cylindrical cells—and whether the failure occurs early or late in its life. If the battery fails early in its lifecycle, repairs are usually feasible. However, if it fails after reaching its intended lifespan, any repair tends to be more of a temporary “patch” until a replacement pack is sourced. From experience for cellswap: •Blade and some pouch cells are nearly impossible to repair. •Prismatic cells are difficult. •Cylindrical cells are the easiest to repair—depending on the pack design. (* module change not a topic) This is why it’s encouraging that BMW, Hyundai, Mercedes, and Porsche have finally begun adopting cylindrical cell designs, moving away from less reliable pouch cells—albeit a decade too late. For example, a Tesla Model S 100D battery can last up to 600,000km in Model S and 450,000km in Model X. The older 85 kWh pack in the S85 can even reach 600,000 km. However, the same pack in the high-performance P85D tends to degrade around 400,000 km, requiring full replacement due to total deterioration. In summary: Yes, battery repair is possible—but only if the pack is still within its designed service life.

They called that person… And it was the actual thief! The most shocking part? The thief was just a 13–14-year-old boy. 😭 He even demonstrated exactly how he opened the bonnet and removed the battery. People always love to ask, "What are you going to do when the battery goes on your Tesla?" This 2019 Model 3 RWD owned by Eric @ Drive Protected ™ still had the ORIGINAL battery and rear motor after 381,000 miles (613,000 km). Even after all those miles, the battery retained 70% capacity. He decided to bring new life to the car by swapping the original NCA pack for a modern LFP pack from a newer Model 3. The original pack was still perfectly functional, the swap was just for performance. Swapping a battery in a Tesla is much quicker than people think. In just a few hours, the orginal battery was removed then replaced with a LFP pack. Once configured via the computer, the car is perfectly functional. There’s no huge mess, not a lot of wires, it’s actually very simple once you are experienced with it. His Model 3 now functions and charges like a newer car. Tesla vehicles are designed from the ground up to be very serviceable.
