We must start listening to our Lord. He speaks to us interiorly. Be quiet, pray, open your heart, listen, Love. To many graces are offered that are ignored due to our lack of interior awareness. Our King of Kings is calling us. Who will respond.

Jesus spoke about not worrying about food or clothes in the Sermon on the Mount, specifically in Matthew 6:25-34. Here’s what he said, paraphrased for clarity: He begins by telling his followers, “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” He points to the birds of the air, saying they don’t sow, reap, or store food in barns, yet God feeds them. “Aren’t you much more valuable than they?” he asks. He’s driving home the idea that if God cares for something as simple as birds, he’ll surely care for people. Then he talks about clothes, using the lilies of the field as an example. “They don’t labor or spin,” he says, “yet even Solomon in all his splendor wasn’t dressed like one of these.” If God clothes the grass—which is here today and gone tomorrow—won’t he do even more for you? He calls out worry as a lack of faith, gently nudging, “O you of little faith.” He wraps it up with a practical takeaway: “So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ The pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” His point? Focus on God’s priorities, and the essentials will fall into place. “Don’t worry about tomorrow,” he adds, “for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” It’s a call to trust over anxiety, shifting focus from material needs to spiritual reliance. Luke 12:22-31 echoes this too, almost word-for-word, showing how central this teaching was to Jesus’ message.
