Commercial property, listed assets, such as shares or property trusts, private businesses? What happens to those sectors when investors pivot from the choice between property and business, and leveraged investors head to those? All of this could be avoided with a proper review of taxation, consideration to actually reduce spending and improve productivity, and turning off one of the primary spigots that is causing the issues in the property market, immigration. For property we should switch to a US/Netherlands system where you can tax deduct the interest on your home if you live in it. But if you are rich enough to have more than 1 property you pay more tax not less. The current system where the more you own the less tax you pay is madness.
