Epidural- the modern medicine that numbs the pain in a woman during childbirth

It’s epidural. Gone through this three times, it hurts like hell. So painful, the last one i got sent like a lightning spark into my leg, i screamed so loud and i was told not to move..i still wonder what was that electrical feeling till today.

That was not an epidural. It was a spinal block (spinal anesthesia). Three things gave it off as a spinal block viz: 1. The needle size: The Epidural needle is about 5 times thicker than the (spinal) needle seen there. 2. The flow: just after the placement of the needle and the removal of the introducer, he pulled the syringe and fluid flowed into the syringe. That is a method to confirm that the needle is in the correct space for a spinal block (the subarachnoid space) before administering the medication. In the epidural space (target of epidural block), there is no such fluid flow. 3. The volume of the medication (anesthetics) injected: spinal blocks typically need between 1, 8 to 2.5mls of medication to be injected which was consistent with the volume seen in the syringe. On the other hand, an epidural block would need an average of 10mls. So, you are likely to use a bigger (10ml or 20ml) syringe to inject the medication if an epidural, not the 5ml-capacity syringe used in that case procedure. ` So, that was a spinal block.

I remember I was told not to move or jump to ensure I get only one shot - my mind was just thinking of the new person in my life I was about to meet. I think I did more than just not moving - I held my breath too🥰. This year we are 17 years old.

Lumbar puncture

Lumbar puncture // spinal tap

It's called Epidural never had one, but know about it,

Epidural..... Using mild pain to prevent bigger pain

Gone through 6 times 🫣🫣 damn painful

My epidural gave me spinal aches for months

Spinal tap

Epidural. Numb before childbirth. Needle into the spine. Somewhat risky. Leak of spinal fluid, encephalitis, etc. Any procedure is risky nowadays.

Epidural anesthesia

my god... nd they're surprised when I say I don't want to get pregnant

I previously didn't know epidurals were administered this way until I saw someone's epidural line being pulled out from her back. The shock of discovering that's how it's done hasn't left me. They need to find another method. I'm not playing…..

Spinal or subarachnoid block (SAB) is how we chart them. No local for the skin is a dick move though 😁

Spinal anesthetic administration

This is Spinal Tap

Epidural. It reduces pain during labor, doesn't numb your body. You still feel the contractions and they are still very painful, just not at the level that you'd pass out. I was given this during my son's delivery.

Bad memories watching this 😳 my spine has a slight curve at the end, took doctor 3 tries to get it. Omg. It was terrible

It’s definitely an epidural of some kind

Spinal block anesthesia

Back pain for the rest of ur life. Great for having babies but horrible when it’s cold out out

Lumbar puncture/ brain and spinal procedure. A neurosurgeon in Nigeria told me that he needed to perform this on my kid brother to determine if there’s pus in his brain. Even when he has CT scan showing that. Nigerian health sector is a scam.

Taking spinal fluid Several things they could be testing

Why are people assuming that it's only administered in CS procedures only? This has become common in almost all operation procedures

Spinal tap used mostly during child birth

Epidural I'd say

Epidural

Spinal tap

Looks like an epidural

epidural. I remember being told to arch my back while my youngest was kicking the daylights out of me because I didn't eat.

This is spinal anaesthesia, looks a bit high though, but it could be camera.

Getting her ready for the c-section and this injection permanently damages you back… the pain never goes away and comes back every month.. child birth is no joke…maybe it’s a bit less rough for some as compared to others…
