Can you put a price on national security?

Thank you, Boston Smalls, for reposting this. Years ago, I was no small expert on the oil industry -- first as a trade news reporter covering the industry, then as a policy advisor in the U.S. Senate. In short, I knew stuff. With that background, I still now where to look things up and which sources are reliable. Mr Global is the real thing -- a true expert. Here's his Youtube: Additional details: 1. Roughly 60% of all the oil we import is from Canada. 2. If not for oil imports -- a situation we created for national security purposes -- we would have a trade surplus with Canada. 3. As David Pitre points out in this thread, we buy about $1,200 in Canadian goods, services, and oil per capita while Canadians buy $8,700 in U.S. goods and services per capita. Also, as he points out, some of that imported Canadian crude oil is exported by the U.S. as refined oil products. In other words, we make a profit on it.

Here’s what could get more expensive with Trump’s new tariffs.

Also factor in what that works out to "per capita" Canada spent $8700/person on US US spent $1200/person on Canada The US buys $100 billion worth of Canadian oil and sells it for triple. Sounds to me like a great deal for the US, but if the US doesn't want it, others will.

If there's profits to scam these fuckers will find a way...

As a Canadian I want zero oil going to America. Or anything else for that matter. This disrespect is disgraceful and we’re not gonna take it.

Canada has 35 million people America 340 million id say Canada purchased a lot of goods for a much smaller population

Excellent work Boston Smalls.

Oh thats not me. That's mrglobaltoo on tiktok. I believe he's on YouTube as well. He's an internationally recognized oil and gas expert.

Please also add the fact that 43 million people cannot consume the volumes of goods 330 million will. The trade deficit is just an excuse and not a rational one, nor are the quota tariffs on dairy.

That's a good point! Also, using a trade deficit as an indicator of a productive partnership is misleading and simplistic. Trade is primarily conducted by private companies, not states, seeking advantageous arrangements for themselves and their clients.

This is it. We sell 🇺🇸 oil for cheaper than we 🇨🇦 can buy it for. Now Trump wants to own us. G huge surprise. He is already cozied up with Saudi Arabia. This mother fvcker is selling Democracy in front of all of us. 🇨🇦vote #MarkCarneyForPM We will survive
