Can you really hear the difference between an affordable piano and an expensive one?

I can certainly hear the difference between a tuned and untuned piano.

To be fair, the $700 piano is severely out of tune

Pleyel has the tone though they purposely left it out of tune so it doesn't sound as good. Yamaha doesn't have he resonance and the cheap upright shouldn't be in there as an upright doesn't have the same soundboard and I notice the Yamaha is a baby grand and can't see the size of the Pleyel,

Yes, but the best sounding one is the Yamaha. Bet a Steinway would sound even better.

I like the $8K one.

I donโt care what anyone says, this is the best version of my favorite Chopin piece.

I think the most expensive sounds the best

I certainly can, although the Yamaha is good enough. But I play a 1912 Steinway upright for a reason, and it's not ease of maintenance.

Yes! I have a Yamaha for which I paid $5000. It sounds this good! ๐น

If recording method is 100% the same for all 3, I'd vote for Yamaha, but I'm surprised Steinway & Sons isn't part of the challenge. Bring it the late Maurizio Pollini's piano (along with his personal tuner) and you'll get perfection!

You can feel the difference when you play And you can hear the difference in a hall with big acoustics

that first one needs to be tuned before it is compared to the others. assuming it doesn't need to be repaired. second one sounds out of tune too, though not as bad.

The Yamaha sounded the best to me tone wiseโฆ The first one sounded like it needed to be tuned

Actually Barthol and Berlin is sounding way better

Through the speakers of a smart phone? No In person? Always.

I think the Yamaha was the only one in tune.

Excessive recording gain is clipping the attack on all 3. And even the two โgoodโ ones need some tuning attention.

Where can I buy a $8 piano? And depending on the room a $8 piano can sound better than a $700 piano

About 27 years ago, I played a grand piano with a running chainsaw and set it on fire in the process. I absolutely have to find that art video again. Did that help you out? ๐ค

The Yamaha sounds the best. Itโs warm and consistent note to note. The B&B has too much player piano honk and the Pleyel has honkiness on the upper octaves and doesnโt sound the same from low to high.

Yamaha brzmi najlepiej, ale facet gra ten utwรณr jakby rฤ baล drzewo, tu trzeba nieco uczucia wลoลผyฤ.

Any time I hear a yamaha, it absolutely mogs the competition at every price point.

Yamaha sounds the best

The difference is between an upright and a grand

Maybe the room acoustics are very different, or maybe the microphone quality is different between the different choices, but the Yamaha sounds the best.

@Vinheteiro

I will always go with a baby grand. Better sound

I have heard a Yamaha grand and a Boesendorfer. Major differences.
