Can You Solve The Missing Dollar Riddle? 🤨
31 条评论

30-5 =25 25+3=28 If you add the two dollars the bellhop pocketed it equals 30

They paid $27 total ($25 for the bill + $2 tip). You don't add the tip to the $27, you add the $3 they got back: $27 + $3 = $30

Haha very clever framing, took me a few minutes, but all dollars are accounted for. $9 x 3 is $27 total paid $25 is with the clerk and $2 is with the bellhop Looking for $30 is the misdirection

If you’re wondering where the $1 went The $2 is already part of the $27 ($25 hotel + $2 manager). You're adding it twice. $27 + $3 refunds = $30.

You should subtract the $2 from the bellhop instead of adding it. Another way to look at it would be each person has $1 (x3), bellhop has $2, hotel has $25.

So your simple math doesn't tell you that 25+3 is 28 They paid 25, 3 dollars were returned to make 28 and the boy kept 2 for him self to make 30

"now each person only pay $9"

Dumb. 25/3 is different than 30/3. Shoulda gave them 1.67 back

30-3=27 (9 each) 27-2=25 You don't minus 3 then add 2.

Price of the hotel was $8.33 each. They each paid $10 and are each owed $1.66 back but only got $1 back since they each gave up $0.66 to the riddler

Lets ask David Blaine. He is the magician afterall

Why would you calculate bellhop's $2 twice?

the bellhop math only works if you forget the $3 refund exists. thats the whole trick and it gets everyone every time

I want to know what hotel only cost 30 dollars per night?

25+2= $27 9x3= $27 No missing $1

lol, in reality each person paid $8.3 * 3 =$24.90 ~ 25 Then to equate it back to the original 30 Take this amount paid $25 + bellhop $2 + the dollar left $3 you get your $30 back

The $27 includes the $2 with the bellhop so you have the $3 returned you get the total $30.

You must treat the two domains as two different variables, if you treat the problem as (= 30), you must treat it as (= 25) and (= 5).

Answer below

Technically each person paid $8.33, and with each getting a dollar refund, brings the amount they would have paid to $9.33. The refund of 2 dollars goes to the bell op as a tip

$27 - $2 (not +2) = $25 which is the cost of the room (not $30)

Where did it go?? 😭😵💫

so theoretically hotel got paid $27($25 + $2 to the bellhop) given that the bellhop works for the hotel. So $27+$3(distributed among the friends) = $30

The fundamental mistake is adding 2 to 27 to get back to 30. Cus the 2 is already part of the 27. Thats a double count. when you say they have now paid 9 each making 27, you dont continue with "plus the 2". cuz it's part of the 27. Only question left is, where did the 3 go

Not 9$ each. 8.3333$ each. So no missing dollar.

nah bro price 25 tips 2 total 27 so each got 1 back

They didn't spend $27, or $9 each, on just the room. They paid 27 (9) TOTAL for the room plus the tip. $25 for the room plus $2 tip = $27 ($9 each). The original number of 30 is irrelevant.

room cost 25usd+2usd tip =27usd(9usd per person). For 30usd; they get back 3usd+25usd for room + 2usd for tip

Three of them each paid $9 = $27. Hotel takes $25, bellhop takes $2. No money lost.

27-2=25. The bellhop's 2 dollars isn't magically added back in at 2x to make it 29 which is double what the bellhop was given.

There is no missing dollar. They paid $25 dollars and the bellhop kept $2 ($25+$2=$27) The last $3 are kept individually by the friends So the extra $2 to make $29 never existed in the first place. Instead it was used to confuse everyone.
