I believe fear of China, not politics, will ultimately bring North America back together. As the race for AI, energy, and critical infrastructure accelerates, economic reality will outweigh political disagreements because the United States, Canada, and Mexico are stronger when they work together. Canada has the energy and critical minerals, the United States has the scale and innovation, and Mexico plays a vital role in the North American economy. In the long run, cooperation is not just good policy, it’s an economic necessity.

The EU is taking a coordinated stance against the US attempt to annex Greenland. Trump says it’s for security. But the US wants it for critical earth minerals. Trump tried to tariff China 100% & they blocked all critical minerals exports to the US. The US needs these minerals for military & AI. Without them, they lose their dominance. So the US backed down on the 100% tariffs. Currently, China controls roughly 90% of the world's rare earth minerals. Greenland, has a vast amount of critical earth mineral deposits throughout the country. Trump is using economic force, to annex Greenland, for the resource needs of the US.

I have a lot of respect for Secretary Marco Rubio and he’s right: Canada is a great friend. He forgot to mention though that an unnecessary tariff war will hurt workers on both sides of the border. Canada has what the U.S. needs: high-grade nickel and critical minerals, energy and electricity, uranium, potash. If President Trump follows through with these tariffs, we can — and should — use every tool in our toolkit.
