Canada Prime Minister: We Knew The Story Of The International Rules-Based Order Was False In his special address at the 2026 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney, shed light on a truth that every world leader knows but many pretend not to: powerful countries do not and have never cared about “international law”. Of course, this uncharacteristic honesty on the part of a Western leader is not indicative of some sudden change of heart on the part of the Global North’s leadership, but is simply a sign of the times. The United States, stretched thin by decades of dominating the world through terror and chaos… is finally turning on its own Western allies to survive. And for Africa and the rest of the Global South, the lesson here is simple… The U.S. is no longer pretending to care about the “rules-based order” that it created with its closest allies nearly a century ago (see Venezuela) and its overlords in Washington are presently treating these allies like underlings or prey (see Canada, Denmark and the rest of Europe).
