Canada is a democracy where people can hold different views, but no one should undermine our country's sovereignty. In my conversations with fellow premiers, we’ve been clear: there is far more that unites us than divides us.

Canada's unity is quite literally "up for debate". Confederation is unraveling, not by accident, but through decades of exploitation just now reaching an intolerable climax. Canada isn't magically immune to territorial changes; no country is, and those changes are coming.

Alberta’s sovereignty is not an issue for national debate. It will be decided solely by Albertans in a referendum. We will be leaving because our legitimate concerns and grievances continue to be ignored and we’ve had it.

OK, so when are we getting rid of equalization?

What unites us? Nostalgia? Canada has no national identity outside of hockey bullshit and "we're not American". Confederation as it is does not work anymore. The westminister system of government is outdated.

Are you joking? What benefit does Canada offer Alberta? Lay it out plain. How are things better, more equal or more economically prosperous within Canada? How is our culture and values better conserved with QC and ON? Spell it out clearly.

So Mr Wakeham you would be in favour of redistributing seats equally, establish a Triple-E senate, requiring all federal spending and transfers are done equally on a per Capita basis, eliminating Equalization or limiting/capping it to a max amount of 5% of provincial per Capita budget averages and where power is included in the formula.

Democracy?

All undecided Albertans need to answer this question - given that the federal government in Canada is structured to exploit the West for wealth while denying its people the representation in government its population warrants, why should Alberta stay? An Albertan vote is worth half of an Eastern vote. It is obvious that Canada's governance is both corrupt & not an actual functioning democracy. If the West had voting parity with Eastern & Central Canada, there would be a Conservative majority government in Ottawa right now. If that notion is disageeable to you, your views are diametrically opposed to those of the vast majority of Albertans. CPP is payable worldwide... An independent Alberta would not have any personal income tax... An independent Alberta would have a government that is accountable to its people and would thus represent their interests while protecting their values... How about respecting the sovereignty of Albertans? You are getting your knickers in a twist because people are utilizing democracy for self-determination. Canada is structurally designed to prey on the Western provinces, to steal their wealth and limit their political power.
