Business investment and hiring: restrained by trade uncertainty. New U.S. tariffs: 50% on roughly $20B of Canadian goods. Unemployment is 6.4% in July. But calling this economy “stronger” requires a very creative definition of strength. Unity is a political claim. Economic strength has a spreadsheet.
