Exactly, that is the purpose of the USMCA, which Trump himself negotiated. 99% of trade between the US and Canada is with no tariffs. If you factor in oil (at a discounted price Canada sells to the US); the US has a trade surplus.

In fairness Canada’s tariffs are not paid on Canadian products imported into the USA. They are paid by Canadians on American products imported into Canada. The USA does sell dairy products to Canada but not beyond the quota. That means Canadians don’t pay either.

I ask the same question about why Canada needs to be the 51st state? Same thing about why do we need to save Greenland after how many decades? Has either country's citizens complained? Doubt it. The plus is he's uniting both countrys citizens.
