The theory, originally put forward by X user John Bray, suggests that the small wireless Rode microphone was rigged with a shaped charge (likely PETN). Unlike a regular explosion that would go in all directions, a shaped charge is designed to direct the blast in one specific direction — functioning almost like a bullet. Candace noted that if this was the case, the explosion was likely intended to hit Charlie in the chest. The fact that it hit his neck instead may have been a miscalculation or malfunction. She pointed out that claiming a 30-06 bullet was stopped by Charlie’s “Superman neck” is far less believable than a directed explosive going slightly off target.
