NM Highlands completed the New Mexico sweep, winning a 69-55 shoot out over Western NM last night (9/6/25), behind Jeffery Jones’ record breaking performance. True Freshman RB Jeffery Jones broke the D2 freshman single game rushing yards record of 380 yards, which was set Tiffin’s Garrion Corbin on 11/6/02. 🏈Last night, Jones ran for 385 on just 22 carries (20 less carries than Corbin’s 44) and scored 4 TDs, setting the new freshman single game rushing yards record. With a total of 608 rushing yards in his first 2 games, the freshman season rushing yards record of 2,064 (set by Joique Bell of Wayne St in 2006) appears obtainable. Jones needs 1,457 yards in the next 9 games (161.9 yards per game) to break that record. Jones wasn’t the only Highlands’ player that had a great game. Highlands was also led to the win by: 🏈 Tevita Valeti, 11 Carries for 138 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Jaden Montalvo, 5 Kickoff Returns for 187 Yds, including returning the opening kickoff 95 Yds to the house; 🏈 Ike Udengwu, 6 Cmps on 12 Atts for 135 Yds & a TD; 🏈 Mike Jones, 3 Recs for 44 Yds; 🏈 Awsten Turnbow, 11 Tackles (9 Solo & 2 Ast); & 🏈 Britt Alexander, 9 for 9 on PATs & 2 for 2 on FGs (25 Yds & 40 Yds). NM Highlands will be looking for another strong performance from Jones and Valeti when they start conference play by hosting SD Mines next Saturday. Here are a few of NM Highlands’ highlights from last night’s win, including an amazing catch out of the backfield by Jones: #RMAC #RMACfb #TheNewHighlands #CowboyTough #ThisIsHighlands

Some may call it an upset, but Chadron St simply calls it another day at the office, beating the #9/#11 Western CO Mountaineers on Saturday (11/8/25) in OT by a score of 27-24. Chadron got it done in all three phases of the game. The Eagles’ offense presented a balanced attack, gaining 111 yards and 2 TDs passing to go along with 148 yards and 1 TD rushing. The Eagles’ defense held the Mountaineers to a mere 38 yards rushing, had 7 tackles for loss, including 3 sacks, and came up with a fumble recovery and 2 interceptions. The most impressive part of Chadron’s team on Saturday had to be its special teams. The Eagles’ special teams blocked two field goal attempts and blocked a punt. Punter Brodie Eisenbraun stuck one punt inside the 5, drew a running into the punter penalty for a 1st down, and had an amazing run off of a high snap, which while it was not a 1st down, it shows what a stud he is. Then there is Kicker Wilson Yee. Yee made an impressive 50 yard FG in the 2nd quarter. Then, in OT, with ice in his veins, Yee made the biggest kick of his collegiate career, drilling a 47 yard FG to give the Eagles the win. Also leading Chadron to the win were: 🏈 DJ Ralph, 10 Cmps on 22 Atts for 111 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Tommy Thomas, 4 Recs for 66 Yds & 2 TDs; 🏈 Logan O’Brien, 10 Tackles (7 Solo & 3 Ast); 🏈 Cooper Walton, 10 Tackles (5 Solo & 5 Ast) with 1 TFL, including 1/2 a Sack; 🏈 Dax Yeradi, 4 Solo Tackles; 🏈 Aiden Kuester, 4 Tackles (1 Solo & 3 Ast) with 1/2 a TFL & 2 INTs, 🏈 William Stemler, 4 Tackles (3 Solo & 1 Ast) with 2 TFLs, including 1 Sack; & 🏈 Ryder True, 3 Tackles (1 Solo & 2 Ast) with 1.5 Sacks. Chadron will be playing for the RMAC Championship next Saturday when they travel to battle the CSU Pueblo Thunderwolves. 8th Anniversary for 2nd and 26 Eight years ago today, on January 8, 2018, Tua Tagovailoa connected with DeVonta Smith for a stunning 41-yard touchdown pass in overtime, securing a victory against the Georgia Bulldogs. This dramatic play clinched a walk-off championship for the Crimson Tide, marking Nick Saban's 5th national title in Tuscaloosa and the 17th national title in school history. Alabama beat UGA 26-23 in OT Do you believe that the 2nd and 26 play is the greatest play in Alabama history? Saban made a bold decision at halftime by benching Jalen Hurts after a challenging first half. Tua Tagovailoa proved to be the spark the Crimson Tide needed, catching Georgia off guard with his unique style of play. When I reflect on this game, I think about two players, Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis, who suffered injuries in the first game of the season against Florida State. These injuries were initially considered season-ending, but thanks to their hard work and dedication to extra rehab, both players managed to return in time for the National Championship. They played vital roles for the Crimson Tide during the Championship game, with Lewis making a crucial play in overtime that forced Georgia to kick a field goal. This gave Alabama the opportunity to score a touchdown and win the game. In the second half, Tua Tagovailoa had 14 completions on 24 attempts for 165 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. In the first half, Jalen Hurts was 3 for 8 with 21 yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and had 47 yards rushing. Najee Harris contributed with 6 carries for 47 yards, and DeVonta Smith had 1 reception for 41 yards, which was the winning touchdown. Roll Tide to group a special group of players.

Demond Williams Jr. is THE future star you NEED to know for 2025! 🔥 The true freshman dazzled in 2024, capping the season with a spectacular Sun Bowl performance against Louisville: 374 passing yards 4 passing TDs 81% completion rate 48 rushing yards 1 rushing TD He drove 90% of the Huskies’ offense against Louisville, averaging 14.4 yards per completion. Williams is locked in as Washington’s QB1 for 2025, ready to be unleashed. Williams looks like Bryce Young out there with elite arm talent and electric playmaking. Like Young, he zips pinpoint passes 30-40 yards downfield with touch or velocity, his quick, compact mechanics maximizing every throw. His 4.4-speed, instant acceleration, and knack for dodging defenders will be a treat for Big Ten fans to watch. Williams shares Young's cool-headed poise, shredding defenses with play-extending magic. His coach, Jedd Fisch, coached Jared Goff to 4,600-yard NFL seasons and built Arizona’s pass-heavy attack, and calls Williams “elite, elite, elite talent” with “everything you want in a player.” Fisch’s fast-paced offense is tailor-made for Williams’ dual-threat brilliance. In 2024, he posted a 78% completion rate, 944 yards, and 8 TDs with just one pick as a freshman—don't be surprised when you hear about him in Heisman contender conversation. In spring scrimmages, he threw five TDs in 11-on-11 drills, including a 35-yard strike to the end zone’s sideline and a 40-yard score to tight end Coutts while evading pressure. His Sun Bowl spin move and 33-yard pass on a key drive showed his knack for creating magic, which could lead to a potential first-round pick with his arm angles, pocket presence, and clutch playmaking. With weapons like Denzel Boston and Jonah Coleman, the offense is filled with weapons. Williams’ 2024 reps—from situational drives against Iowa and Penn State to a clutch UCLA appearance—built unshakable confidence. Fisch’s system and Williams’ ceiling could vault the Huskies’ offense to Big Ten elite. Demond Williams Jr. is going to be a MUST-WATCH in Seattle in 2025! 🌟 #Huskies #BigTen #DemondWilliams #CFB

⬛ Austin Ekeler: From D2 to the League He ran for 5,857 yards at Western Colorado Football. Signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent. Led the NFL in touchdowns twice. Now with the Washington Commanders and still producing strong. He’s one of the best to ever come out of Division II. ⬇️ Western State, now Western Colorado, was the only program that offered him a shot at running back. He stayed four full years and became one of the most productive players the RMAC has ever seen. He averaged 146 rushing yards and 1.6 touchdowns per game over 40 starts. He put together one of the strongest careers in D2 history...and he didn’t have to leave to do it. At Western, Ekeler dominated. He averaged more than 100 rushing yards per game across four seasons, led the country in all-purpose yards in 2015, and earned academic honors alongside his on-field production. By the time he wrapped up his senior year, he was a Harlon Hill finalist with nearly 6,000 rushing yards to his name. His work was undeniable. But he still didn’t get a Combine invite. The draft came and went. No calls. Then the Los Angeles Chargers brought him into camp on a rookie deal and gave him a shot. He took it from there. He made the roster as a rookie and started producing immediately. First as a change-of-pace option. Then as a third-down threat. Then as the guy. In 2021 and 2022, he led the NFL in total touchdowns. He stacked back-to-back seasons with more than 1,500 scrimmage yards and at least 15 total scores. He caught 107 passes in 2022, the most by any running back in Los Angeles Chargers history. The production hasn’t slowed down. In 2024, he signed with the Washington Commanders. He’s still outworking people. Division II didn’t slow him down. It prepared him. The hours. The discipline. The ability to carry the weight of a program while juggling everything else college throws at you. That’s what this level teaches. That’s why it sticks. There are players right now doing the same thing. Grinding through the spring, stacking film, putting together complete seasons. Some will make it. Not because someone finally believed in them, but because they never stopped believing in themselves. That’s what turns a D2 shot into an NFL career. ⬛ College Career 🔹 5,857 rushing yards, 63 total touchdowns 🔹 4× First-Team All-RMAC Sports 🔹 2013 RMAC Offensive Freshman of the Year 🔹 Led D2 in all-purpose yards per game (203.9) in 2015 🔹 2016 Harlon Hill Trophy Finalist 🔹 First-Team Academic All-America (CoSIDA) 🔹 RMAC Academic Player of the Year (2014) 🔹 2018 Western Colorado Alumni Award of Excellence ⬛ NFL Career 🔹 Signed by Los Angeles Chargers in 2017 (UDFA) 🔹 NFL leader in total touchdowns: 20 (2021), 18 (2022) 🔹 Only player with 10+ rush and 5+ receiving TDs in back-to-back seasons since Marshall Faulk 🔹 One of two UDFAs with 1,500+ scrimmage yards and 15+ TDs in two straight years (with Priest Holmes) 🔹 107 catches in 2022, most by a running back in Los Angeles Chargers history 🔹 PFF Second-Team All-Pro (2019) 🔹 NFL Top 100: Ranked #21 in 2023 🔹 AFC Offensive Player of the Week (Week 17, 2022) 🔹 Over 7,000 scrimmage yards and 70+ career touchdowns 🔹 Signed with the Washington Commanders in 2024 ⬛ Off the Field 🔹 Owns more than 115 rental properties in Colorado and Missouri 🔹 Built the Eksperience app to connect athletes and fans 🔹 Co-founded Gridiron Gaming Group 🔹 75+ endorsement deals (Adidas, Chipotle, Frito-Lay, more) 🔹 Founded the Austin Ekeler Foundation in 2021 🔹 Former host of “Ekeler’s Edge” with Yahoo Sports Ekeler’s story isn’t rare because he came from Division II. It stands out because he stayed in it, believed in it, and maxed it out. That’s what this level does when the right player buys in.
