Do "police escorts" have some magic anti toxic shield or something?

I do understand how they don’t want looters going through the rubble and stealing valuables that survived (including fireproof safes). However, they can’t force those who lost it all to wait forever to go through what’s left of their properties and make plans.

So what’s the reason people can’t enter the area? Makes zero sense. Show ID of address and let them through.

I’d make them shoot me. Keeping somebody from their home for any reason, including “safety” is the most immoral action a government could take.
