This reminded me of an experience I had at San Diego Zoo years ago. It was a warm day and the gorillas were lazily lounging about their enclosure, while a large crowd of humans watched. Suddenly a silverback charged toward the crowd beating his chest. As one, the crowd jumped back and gasped, though the gorilla obviously couldn't reach them. This set the rest rest of the gorillas hooting and screeching with what I could only call uproarious gorilla laughter. I'm guessing the silverback did this several times a day just for fun and for the entertainment of his peeps.
