Cape Town Weekend Violence Summary (19–21 June) Cape Town experienced a violent weekend marked by multiple shootings, murders, and stabbings across several communities. Friday, 19 June A man was shot and killed in Manenberg. A learner was stabbed during a fight at a school in Lentegeur, Mitchells Plain. A... man was shot and killed in Makhaza, Khayelitsha. Two more people were shot and critically wounded in Manenberg later that afternoon. Saturday, 20 June A shooting was reported in Delft. A man was shot and killed in Heideveld. A 14-year-old boy was shot and wounded in Manenberg. Two teenage girls, including a 14-year-old who was shot in the head, were wounded in a shooting in Hanover Park. A DA candidate was shot and killed in Du Noon. A man was shot and killed in Elsies River. Another shooting was reported in Ottery/Lotus River on Saturday evening. Sunday, 21 June A man was shot and killed in Belhar. An off-duty police officer was shot and killed in Khayelitsha. A man was shot and killed in Hanover Park. A body was discovered outside a business park in Mitchells Plain. Overall, the weekend saw at least nine fatalities, several attempted murders and shootings, including attacks on children and a police officer, highlighting ongoing concerns over violent crime in parts of Cape Town.show more

It was chaos as groups of learners fought amongst each other and in the scuffle three learners were stabbed and rushed to hospital. *Leiden, Delft: Shot were fired last night in Koonap street, Leiden. Reports indicate an individual was shot but the status of the victim is unknown at this stage.
