Many people don’t realize that there’s a tiny arrow next to the fuel pump icon on their car’s gas gauge indicator. This arrow points either to the left or the right, and it’s there to tell the driver which side of the car the gas tank cap is on. It’s especially handy if you’re driving a rental or borrowing a friend’s car and aren’t familiar with where the fuel door is located!

That means they’ve known about this issue for at least 4 years and they keep putting the same feature in the car that is not safe for normal use.
