As I watched Lenten procession and Ash Wednesday Mass from the Vatican, this popped up as a video from a year ago. Hard to believe it was only a year ago (Jan. 22), feels like light years. It’s early but the first story of week is already developing. Last week Brandon Berry was 12th alternate. A few days ago he sent me a message asking if other alternates were on site. At that time he was 5th alternate. There were a few, but since he lives in South Florida decide to come, since it’s only an hour flight. He moved all the way to first by this morning. And now he has heard that a player might be sick and he might have a tee time. Making the story that more compelling is how he is in the alternate position. Last year at 2nd to last finals event Berry missed the cut by one. On Friday he accidentally played the wrong ball, resulting in a two stroke penalty. Because of that he finished 76th in points, missing out on retaining his full card by one stroke over the entire season. Had he made the cut he was almost assured of keeping it. Devastating mistake, but now possibly a chance to change that this week. He will get a good amount of starts but a made cut here goes a long way. Also Brandon and his family are great people, it’s easy to cheer for him.

JJ used to be very good at english and was even a top student, but he got bullied bec he stopped letting his friends copy his homework, they even framed him for stealing, and his English teacher believed it, dragged him out, and shamed him in front of the classroom, so he ended up hating English subject ever since. 🥺 He doesn't know how to swim so he was practing for it for their swimming class but met bullies who tried to get him drowned by pressing him down to the deep water multiple times to the point where he had to bow down and beg them to spare his life. As always, while watching some scenes from the episode, I get this déjà vu. And this time it happened during the hospital scene. I’m honestly 100% sure that the earlier almost miscarriage situation was intentional. It felt like they wanted to show us Serhat’s reaction when his child and the woman carrying his child were in danger and then later contrast it with his reaction when the woman he truly loves, the other half of his soul, is the one fighting for her life. I will never stop appreciating Ilhan’s acting. From episode one people doubted him, saying he only had one expression. But back then that was Serhat… the controlled doctor, M’s husband, the surgeon who keeps everything inside. Now he’s completely different. The emotional shift is almost 180 degrees from that version of Serhat. From the cave scene to the hospital scene the emotions were already intense, but the hospital was a masterpiece. The way he could barely stay standing, the way he allowed himself to cry openly even though his guards were around him! he didn’t care. Because the woman he loves had just been lifeless in his arms. And look at the details: he went down on his knees twice in this episode for her. A man as powerful and towering as a mountain fell to his knees because he felt utterly helpless! First in the cave, when he realized he was helpless! she was fainting, the venom in her blood was faster than anything he could do, and his strength meant nothing in that moment. Then again in the hospital, when he finally reached his limit and simply couldn’t stay standing anymore😭 And this is the same man who showed almost no emotion when his father died. UPDATE FROM COBB COUNTY, GA!!! 🎉 IT’S ZEUS’ FREEDOM RIDE 🎉 Zeus was a 10 year old senior dog whose story really broke our hearts. 💔 Apparently, his family moved out of their home and left him behind completely alone. He was found two weeks later and brought to the shelter. When Zeus first arrived, you could tell he was heartbroken. He barely wagged his tail, didn’t want to get out of bed, and just seemed so defeated by the world around him. Even when he started coming out with us volunteers, he stayed very quiet and withdrawn… 🥺 Then one incredibly sweet couple drove all the way from Chattanooga just to meet him… and the second they saw Zeus, they knew he was meant to be theirs. 🧡 When we brought Zeus into the office to get him dressed up for his big day, something about him already felt different. It was almost like he knew his life was about to change. The moment he saw his new parents sitting in the lobby, he immediately went right up to them like he had been waiting for them his entire life. 🥹 When they opened the car door, Zeus tried SO hard to climb in as fast as he could. We were all laughing through tears because although he’s an older senior boy, he was determined to make sure he wasn’t getting left behind again. Wilcox said he hasn't been violent since what happened in Chicago's Sauganash neighborhood in August 1986, the last time Wilcox was attacked on a public street. He was 20 years old at the time and outside a house party on Kenneth Avenue, Wilcox said he and his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend were attacked by several men he'd been feuding with. "He ran up on me with a baseball bat and beat up on me" Wilcox told the I-Team on Monday. "I stabbed the guy and he died...They were aggressors. They started the fight." Wilcox was convicted of murder and sent to Stateville prison after he was sentenced to 20 years. He served nearly seven-and-a-half years after an appeal dropped the charge to manslaughter. "I'd rather get stabbed and die than go back to prison," Wilcox said Monday. For Wilcox, it wasn't just one experience in prison that has him fearful of being locked up again. He told the I-Team that he was terrified of fighting back and going to prison where he has spent many years of his adult life. The video of the beating was seen by millions around the world, but this is the first time we learn the back story. After the incident, Wilcox told the public: "I'm not a violent person. I haven't been in a long time." On Monday, he explained to the I-Team what he meant. Wilcox said he hasn't been violent since what happened in Chicago's Sauganash neighborhood in August 1986, the last time Wilcox was attacked on a public street. He was 20 years old at the time and outside a house party on Kenneth Avenue, Wilcox said he and his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend were attacked by several men he'd been feuding with. "He ran up on me with a baseball bat and beat up on me" Wilcox told the I-Team on Monday. "I stabbed the guy and he died...They were aggressors. They started the fight." Wilcox was convicted of murder and sent to Stateville prison after he was sentenced to 20 years. He served nearly seven-and-a-half years after an appeal dropped the charge to manslaughter. "I'd rather get stabbed and die than go back to prison," Wilcox said Monday. For Wilcox, it wasn't just one experience in prison that has him fearful of being locked up again. According to Illinois Department of Corrections officials, he's been in state prison nine times in the past 30 years. His was arrested for retail theft and, in 2013, faced a marijuana charge in Cook County. When last week's traffic altercation grew into a Trump-bashing incident, Wilcox defended himself by retreating and later explained the incident just as he explained the 1986 killing he was involved in. "She was the first one who threw a punch," Wilcox said. As the punches landed, Wilcox was dazed because he had prayed to god to never put him in a violent situation again. And if those who beat him last week are ever arrested, his hope for their punishment comes from experience: "I'm gonna be at every court date and I'm gonna make sure I can do everything I can to where they get locked up," Wilcox said. He would like to see them locked up in the kind of place where Wilcox says he was -- in Stateville, where in the 1980s he says white inmates were unwelcome guests, adding that he has PTSD from his days there. None of this changes the fact that Wilcox was the victim of an angry crowd. But it does explain why he didn't fight back.
