Careless officer causes crash while speeding to a call causing a life changing moment. On December 7, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., a tragic intersection collision on Columbus’ west side occurred. Columbus Division of Police Officer Kaitlin Robinson was responding to an urgent domestic burglary in progress. A 911... caller reported that her adult son was aggressively attempting to force entry into her home by banging on the doors and windows. Due to the high-stakes threat of violence, Officer Robinson was traveling eastbound on West Broad Street at a high rate of speed with emergency lights and sirens fully activated. As Officer Robinson approached the intersection at North Central Avenue, she faced a red traffic light. Simultaneously, a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by 30-year-old Corey Tinnes, entered the intersection on a green light to make a left turn. The cruiser entered the intersection and collided with the driver's side of the pickup truck. The driver of the pick up wasCorey Tinnes. Not shown in the video he did sustain catastrophic injuries from the impact. He was taken to the hospital and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. Officer Robinson cruiser's airbags deployed, and she was briefly trapped by made it out of the vehicle under her own power. She was transported to the hospital and later released. The Ohio State Highway Patrol took over the independent investigation to perform a forensic crash reconstruction. The incident has raised significant scrutiny regarding departmental "due regard" policies, which dictate that emergency vehicles must exercise caution and slow down sufficiently to ensure an intersection is clear before proceeding through a red light. As of mid-2026, Officer Robinson remains on administrative leave pending the final results of the state highway patrol's investigation. Additionally, the family of Corey Tinnes has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Columbus and Officer Robinson, alleging negligence and reckless operation. A teen who was assaulted and slammed by a Warren police officer during booking has filed a $50 million lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed this week by Fieger Law. Matthew Rodriguez, 48, an officer with 14 years on the force, was charged Friday with assault and battery charges. Warren police announced Monday that he had been fired According to the lawsuit, the teen suffered physical and mental damage due to excessive force, and the city of Warren failed to properly train the officer. "Officer Matthew, with the specific intent to intimidate and/or harass Plaintiff, as a result of his race and/or ethnicity, caused physical contact with Plaintiff by striking him in the head and/or face with a fist and pulling him off the ground by his hair," the lawsuit reads. The lawsuit also says that the two other officers in the video failed to intervene and help the teen. “This is one of the most flagrant cases of police misconduct I’ve seen in my entire career as a trial attorney. The sheer violence and disregard for human life that these three officers showed is despicable and cannot be tolerated," said James Harrington of Fieger Law. The incident happened early this week at the Warren police department. The video shows the officer punching and grabbing the 19-year-old by his locs before slamming & launching him into his cell. Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer says an investigation was launched after the two officers in the video stepped up and told a supervisor about the incident. One officer was telling Rodriguez "That's enough" multiple times in an attempt to make the officer stop, Dwyer said. At first, they did not know why the officer was attacking him. Within a week, the officer was arrested, charged, and put on unpaid administrative leave, said Dwyer. The officer in the video also was out of policy and was not wearing bodycam. The officer has a lengthy history of alleged accessive force. He currently has two pending lawsuits.

Fairfax County Police have released footage of an officer running over a pedestrian, who was lying in the roadway after having been struck by a separate driver during a hit-and-run. On September 23rd at 8:39pm, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Richmond Highway & Belford Drive in Hybla Valley, Virginia for a hit-and-crash involving a pedestrian. A black Mercedes was seen striking a pedestrian and fleeing the scene. While arriving to the scene, a Fairfax County police officer struck the pedestrian, who was still in the roadway. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded and immediately began performing life-saving measures. Trina Jones, 62, of Alexandria was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. This guy ODed on the wrong side of town. We are on the West Side of Columbus, Ohio. A young man named Johnny was found in the grass near a gas station experiencing a life-threatening opioid overdose. He was starting to be surrounded by a number of people that recognized his condition. A couple alert bystanders immediately stepped in and dialed 911 and guided him over to a safer place away from the gathering group. Columbus Police officers and Columbus Fire/EMS paramedics rushed to the scene. Police arrived first finding Johnny barley conscious being propped up on a wall by a helpful good Samaritan. The officer instantly recognized that Johnny was ODing and luckily first responders were arriving on scene. They were able to administer Narcan (naloxone), successfully reversing the overdose and bringing him back to consciousness. While the emergency medication brought him back, he quickly realized other issues at hand as his wallet was gone to no real surprise, and his motorcycle and phone were also missing. Johnny refused transport to the hospital. This means he was going to be left stranded on the West Side without a wallet, phone, mode of transportation (not that he should be driving) or familiar surroundings, which is a whole other problem as this is not The best side of town. Instead of simply clearing the scene, the responding officer went above and beyond duty. Recognizing that Johnny needed help getting home safely. The officer managed to reach Johnny’s mother by phone to coordinate a safe handoff. They agreed to meet at the Mount Carmel West Emergency Room, where his family was able to pick him up and take over his care. This dude was super lucky that a couple good people saw him and jumped in to help. They could have just left him face down in the grass.

Officer holds man at gunpoint that does not fit description of the person he is looking for. Officer Kerzaya was called out to this hotel as a white man pulled a gun on the hotel staff. As the officer was searching the premises he ran into Trey an employee of the hotel and also African American. The officer proceeded to pull his firearm on and hold Trey at gun point for a number of minutes. The whole time Trey had his hands up and was eventually on his knees. Once verified Trey was an employee all he said to him was get out of here. Next this officer pulled his gun on another person in the hotel that also did not fit the description. The officer resigned from duty as his certification was stripped from him. Trey filed suit against the city and pulled in a settlement.

Off duty officer had to chase shoplifter though the store only to get sprayed as the criminal makes their escape. An off-duty police officer working security at a department store was alerted to an active shoplifting incident. The officer confronted a female suspect near the exit doors as she attempted to leave with a large bag of unpurchased merchandise. When the officer tried to detain her, a struggle ensued. The suspect broke free, ran through the store aisles, and fled into the parking lot. The officer pursued the suspect to a parked white sedan. As he attempted to pull her from the driver’s seat to place her under arrest, the woman produced a can of pepper spray and sprayed the officer This allowed her to put the vehicle in reverse, navigate out of the space, and flee the scene. However, during the initial struggle, she dropped her purse, leaving her identification behind for investigators. Officers deployed to the address listed on her ID. Upon arrival, they witnessed the woman pulling up to drop off a young child. Spotting the police presence, she immediately took off again, initiating a secondary high-speed pursuit. During the chase, the suspect reached reckless speeds of up to 100 mph. The pursuit finally ended in a residential neighborhood after the suspect lost control of the vehicle, nearly driving it into a local retention pond and drainage ditch. She was quickly apprehended by responding officers in a nearby grassy area. While detained, the suspect admitted her actions were reckless but claimed she only used the spray because she felt the initial off-duty officer had been too rough. She was booked into custody and formally charged with Shoplifting, Felony Obstruction of Law Enforcement, and multiple traffic offenses stemming from the pursuit. The RCMP has shared new video footage of an arrest in Lac La Biche, hoping to offer more context to a viral social media clip that showed a man being forcefully taken to the ground by an officer on October 1. The man, Dennis Boucher, 44, sustained facial injuries that required stitches before being transported to the Lac La Biche detachment, where he was charged with assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest. At a press briefing, Staff Sgt. Greg Stannard from the Eastern Alberta District of the RCMP clarified that the newly released footage shows Boucher had attacked the officer just moments before the portion of the arrest caught on a witness's camera. "Part of the reason this video is being released is to help the public understand that it was more than just the little piece that originally was seen on Facebook," Stannard explained. The officer had been responding to a complaint at around 2 a.m. that Boucher was causing a disturbance at a family member's residence on the south side of Lac La Biche. Stannard stated that the police footage shows Boucher becoming aggressive and resisting arrest when the officer attempted to handcuff him near the patrol vehicle. "The individual initially resisted arrest and attacked the officer, punching and attempting to strike the officer additional times," Stannard told reporters.
