If the cop aimed for his dome, there’d be less of these criminals out there.

📢📢Context/Details 📢📢 Jan 24, 2024, Lathrop The suspect, 40-year-old Juan Valdez, was seen taking off in a Nissan Sedan after being approached by officers. Multiple police vehicles followed Valdez. At one point Valdez stops and talks to police while refusing to exit the vehicle. Valdez took off again, driving on the wrong side of the road. Police tried hitting his vehicle multiple times in an attempt to stop him. Neighbor's surveillance video captured the moment Lathrop police officers started the chase of Valdez in his Nissan Sedan. The pursuit ended 20 minutes later and about three miles away from the neighborhood when an officer fired his weapon, shooting Valdez on Interstate 5. Two gunshots were fired at Valdez and he was detained. Valdez was taken to the hospital before being booked into San Joaquin County Jail. He is facing charges of carjacking, false imprisonment and resisting arrest. This man just threatened a woman and her daughter. He doesn't care that the police have already chased him through the residential area. The 40-year-old doesn't even think about giving up and instead escapes onto a nearby highway. Bindell said he heard the sirens Saturday afternoon around 12:15 p.m., saw four police cars and then heard his next-door neighbors arguing. "He stopped and he said, 'It wasn't me.' That was after she said, 'You tried to kill me,' and he was, 'That's not me,'" Bindell said. Bindell said the officer asked Valdez to turn off his car, but he refused. "He didn't do it, and at that point, they actually had their guns pointed at him," he said. Bindell said his neighbor drove off a few minutes later, leading officers to I-5, south of Lathrop Avenue. "The suspect's car was disabled and he got out and attempted to carjack an uninvolved motorist, at which point one of our officers shot the suspect," said Lt. Tracie Shea with Lathrop police. Shea said due to the investigation, they aren't releasing any details about the shooting, such as why the officer fired their gun, how many times and whether Valdez had a weapon.
