Watched this yesterday afternoon & the kids were mesmerised by the game at the end - they even looked up from their tablets. It's actually pretty good football action for a film (although Stallone's goalkeeping is unorthodox to say the least).

Gordon Banks was hired to coach Stallone for the film. Apparently Sly took no notice at first, thinking it was an easy position. That was until the first day of filming for the match, when he broke several ribs and fingers. Afterwards he hung on every word Banks told him.

Can't help but smile when the first goal goes in. Fucking homer ref if there was ever one!

Loved this film as a kid and still do, saw it on TV yesterday and was watching the match sat on the edge of the sofa. As a Spurs fan this is my favourite goal of the game and I found myself cheering Ossie on as he jinks through the German defence.

I went to the cinema to watch this film. It was full and everyone went absolutely crazy just like we were all in the ground!
