Carlos Sainz has been given a 5-second penalty!

It was a racing incident and how can you give a penalty for a racing lap that now didn’t happen?

A lap gets wiped out but a penalty gets added, not a Ferrari fan but that’s harsh twice on Sainz. Either start in previous grid order or line up in completed 57 lap order and give penalty. The original order rectified the issue?

Makes absolutely no sense. If Alonso is getting his 3rd place back, then Sainz hasn’t affected his race. So how can he still get penalised for an incident which has been undone?

This is a 5 second penalty, but not a si hole mention of start procedure issues for a Red Bull outside of the start box ….. F1 is a joke

Not sure that is correct, turn 1, after a start generally this type of incident is classed as a racing one with no penalties. I think that should be the case here too. Very harsh on Carlos

They’ve changed the order back and nullified the lap.

Strange to announce that just before the processional. Probably cause another red flag bunching up behind him.

If we went back to the previous lap, then the lap didn’t count, then the accident didn’t happen….. so how can you give a penalty for an accident that didn’t happen?

The reason the red flag was out was because of the crash, they cant just ignore that. The reason the grid is back to the 3rd restart order minus the reitred cars is because of lack of a full racing lap, we cant forget that a crash is the cause of all this to begin with

He deserves it, but how can you give a penalty to a lap that now doesn’t exist? If there’s a penalty for that start of the lap, you’d have to recognise all the other events in the same lap
