Brilliant, layered guy. Leon Balogun’s point about being distant from Nigerian culture as a German-born player is quite understandable. It’s far easier for the UK-born guys to settle into the squad, in comparison with others who probably grew up in environments that didn’t have as many Nigerians. In 2000, Mourinho had only 8 career matches as a coach, when his Benfica player, Sabry, called him out in public. Mourinho's reply was crazy.
