i agree, BUT... i actually think that wonderland is one of the best minecraft horror mods ive played dispite it's flaws, i just wish they would stop going in this direction with the chase themes 'n loud noises and stick to what they're REALLY good at doing, which is subtlety

GENUINELY SO TRUE ive been saying this for AGES.. i don't understand why so many horror mods don't play into what's made minecraft scary for people.. the herobrine myths, the cave sounds, the uncertainty behind whether or not you're actually alone in your world..

Make a mod that makes the cave sounds actually DO something bro I used to genuinely just JUMP UP ON MY CHAIR every time I heard one I dont want to get chased by some long limbed pale guy with big teeth called "lanky bob" thats going to one shot me while breaking my eardrums

While I think Wonderland is one of the better horror mods, Herobrine still remains undefeated as the king of MC horror imo, largely just because he actually plays into what makes singleplayer worlds unnerving rather than being some obnoxious and loud guy who kills you in 2 hits.

idk if you've alr played them but belowlands.jar is a good horror mod as it uses more of the atmosphere than actual jumpscares to make it scary .

i have, i liked that mod as well.. i think the references to other games n whatnot is a teeny tiny bit immersion breaking BUT they're really really fun so i certainly can't complain

That's not a random noise, it's specifically a entity noise, it appears in what once was too

im aware, but that doesn't really detract from my point... its still a sudden extremely loud ear piercing sound that doesn't really add to the fear factor whatsoever beyond a cheap jumpscare

and when mods try to innovate and add in actual atmosphere or try to add actual segments of scripted chase bits that don't include garbage noise as the background track, the community shuns those creators

this is also true but i personally think that chase themes don't really fit into these mods,, thats moreso down to my personal taste though and i don't really mind the existence of them

Oh no I don't find them my personal cup of tea either, it's just a shame to see how much those concepts don't get to be explored around with different genres because of the less than welcome reception Wonderland got

they couldve actually added music with some sauce thag would like try to replicate calming effects of minecrafts original soundtrack but failed lien a lot instead of just spamming this shit
